POLYNUCLEOTIDES: NOT ALL ARE CREATED EQUAL 🧬

One thing I hear time and time again from clients is:

Clients always ask me “Christine will I bruise?!” - Bruising is a normal and sometimes unavoidable side effect of injectable treatments.

Every face contains a complex network of tiny blood vessels that sit beneath the skin. During treatment, despite using advanced techniques, detailed anatomical knowledge and careful injection practices, a small blood vessel can occasionally be disrupted, allowing a small amount of blood to collect under the skin and create a bruise.

Factors That Can Increase Bruising:

💉 Individual anatomy – some people naturally have more superficial blood vessels.

💉 Thin or delicate skin – vessels may be closer to the surface and easier to affect.

💉 Medications and supplements – blood-thinning medications, aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oils, vitamin E and some herbal supplements can increase the likelihood of bruising.

💉 Hormonal changes – bruising can be more common around menstruation.

💉 Lifestyle factors – alcohol consumption, smoking and intense exercise before or after treatment may contribute.

💉 Previous bruising history – some clients simply bruise more easily than others.

Is Bruising Dangerous?
In the vast majority of cases, bruising is temporary and harmless, typically improving over several days and fading completely within 1–2 weeks. The colour may change from purple or blue to green, yellow and brown as the body naturally breaks down the blood pigments.

Remember
Bruising is not a reflection of treatment quality and cannot always be predicted or prevented. Even with the most experienced practitioners and safest techniques, bruising can still occur due to each client’s unique anatomy and healing response.

Every client heals differently, and every treatment journey is unique.
