Chesterfield Borough Council has successfully secured £1.15m of funding for the Market Square to deliver a vibrant and modern shopping experience that supports the traders and attracts new traders and customers.

Concept designs have been produced following consultation with the public, market traders and local businesses to create an exciting space that can support the market, regular events and activity and create an inviting social space.

We are now consulting on the plans to understand your opinions on the scheme, building on the first public engagement exercise to look for specific feedback on these proposals.

Quarterbridge is delighted to be recruiting for a HR and Accounts Assistant to join a busy, close knit office in central Colchester. This is a fast paced role where attention to detail and team work are essential.

The main focus of this role is to provide support to the Finance Manager, ensuring all duties and tasks are completed in a timely manner.

To be considered for this position you must have previous experience in a similar role, have a proactive approach and an excellent work ethic.

Responsibilities:

HR

Advise and assist in the implementation of company HR policies
Maintain and manage Employee records
Assist with the daily running of the HR department
Ensure employee confidentiality and data protection is adhered to
Proven ability to handle sensitive personal information in an appropriate manner

Accounts

Process invoices onto the purchase ledger
Compile monthly and quarterly reporting information
Collect information for and prepare payroll payments for employees
Monitor debtors and produce statements to ensure any overdue payments are highlighted
Maintain customer accounts and obtain credit reports when necessary
Reconcile all inter-company accounts within sales and purchase ledgers
Produce VAT returns
Credit control duties
Reconcile customer payments accurately
Review and adhere to department budgets
Collect and enter data for financial spreadsheets
Proven experience and understanding of constructing clear, concise briefing papers and reports
To complete ad-hoc duties as and when required

Skills required

Ability to work effectively with senior management, staff and external partners to establish good working relationships
Able to analyse complex information quickly, reaching and articulating decisions with clarity
Exceptional record management skills
Excellent communication skills both written and spoken
Team player and optimist
Honesty and integrity are a crucial part of this role
Superb organisational skills
Planning and problem solving skills
Analytical skills
Competent with accounting systems, specifically Sage 50 Cloud and Payroll
Possess or working towards a AAT certificate | HR qualifications
Experience working of site when required would be beneficial
