17 years ago someone walked into our office with a CV in hand and asked for a job. She never really left....
This month marks 17 years since Sarah joined the business, and it definitely deserves a little recognition.
I still remember the day she first appeared. I’d only been running the company myself for about a year and had stayed late one evening to post a job advert online. The very next day Sarah walked into the office, CV in hand, and confidently said she was here about the job.
At the time someone in the office was going on holiday, so I said she could come in and cover temporarily… and 17 years later she’s still here!
What stands out even more to me now is that Sarah had a 10-week-old baby at the time. I didn’t have children then, so I probably didn’t fully appreciate just how much she must have been juggling.
Over the years Sarah has been incredibly reliable, loyal to the core and always willing to take on any challenge. More than that, she’s become a great friend. Between us we’ve navigated pregnancies, miscarriages, weddings, deaths, divorces, recessions and even a pandemic.
I genuinely look forward to coming into work and seeing her each day. She’s a huge asset to the business and to the team.
Thank you for everything you’ve brought to the company over the past 17 years Sarah.
Moments like this are a reminder that our people really do make our business.
