A carefully planned lift in the heart of Norwich.
Working for NCL Contractors on behalf of Core Power Generation, we recently completed the extraction and installation of a transformer to a rooftop plant room at The Forum on Theatre Street in Norwich, using a Liebherr LTM1230-5.1 on full ballast at 72 tonnes.
This one came with a few layers of complexity. The plant room sits directly above the American Library, which meant all lifting operations had to take place out of hours. Getting access into the plant room required the removal of a roof section and the installation of a dedicated roof hatch to create a viable lift path.
Theatre Street is a busy stretch at the best of times, with the theatre, public car parks and active bus routes all in the mix. Early coordination with the council to secure a road closure was key, and a big thank you to Blade Traffic Management for their work on the day.
Well done to the whole team on the ground for delivering this safely and efficiently.
