Our team was in central London for this Contract Lift at the Kensington Forum Hotel, positioning six air source heat pumps onto the roof as part of the hotel’s refurbishment.

Working for Strucktor UK, we planned and delivered the lifting operation, with each of the six units weighing 3.7 tonnes.

With the height of the building and long working radius, we brought in City Lifting’s 450-tonne Liebherr LTM 1450-8.1, configured with 134 tonnes of counterweight and a 56m luffing jib. Our own 110-tonne Liebherr LTM 1110-5.1 was also on site to help rig the crane overnight.

The following day, all six heat pumps were successfully lifted into position before de-rigging began.

A great job for the team and a good example of how our Contract Lift service allows us to plan and manage larger lifting operations, bringing in the right equipment when the project calls for it.

Nearly five years ago, we started looking more closely at sustainability at Cadman Cranes and where we could make a genuine difference.

Our 2026 Sustainability Update brings together the progress we’ve made since then and what we’re working towards next.

Since 2020, we’ve reduced our Scope 1 and 2 CO₂e emissions by 97%, supported by changes including the move to HVO across our mobile crane fleet and investment in making our HQ more energy efficient.

The report also covers the work we’re doing with our people and local communities, alongside our plans for the next stage of our sustainability journey.

That includes further work with our supply chain, battery storage, waste reduction and investment in our first electrically operated mobile crane.

There’s still more we want to achieve, but it’s good to look back at how much has changed over the past five years.

Our team recently headed into the heart of London to help install Lady in Blue, the new Fourth Plinth commission by New York-based artist Tschabalala Self.

Working with Mtec , Cadman Cranes delivered the lift that positioned the sculpture onto the world-renowned Fourth Plinth, one of the most high-profile public art sites in the UK.

For the installation, we used our 50-tonne Liebherr LTM 1050-3.1. Working with Mtec’s HIAB, we brought the sculpture upright and removed its transport cage, before lifting the 3.8-tonne artwork onto the plinth at a nine-metre radius.

Extra care was taken throughout the lift, with sling protection and packaging used to protect the artwork while it was being handled and positioned.

The Trafalgar Square location meant access, crane positioning and the lift itself all had to be carefully planned around the constraints of the site.

Lady in Blue was officially unveiled on 10 September and will now occupy the Fourth Plinth for approximately two years, where it will be seen by millions of Londoners and visitors to the capital.

We’re pleased to have joined the Construction Leadership Council's Construct Zero programme as a Business Champion.

Construct Zero brings businesses from across the construction industry together to support the sector’s transition towards Net Zero and drive meaningful carbon reduction.

For Cadman Cranes, it’s an opportunity to contribute what we’ve learned through our own sustainability journey, while working alongside others to understand where we can continue to improve.

We’ve already made significant changes to our operations, including transitioning our entire mobile crane fleet to HVO in 2021 and reducing our emissions by 96% since 2020. But we know there’s still more to do, both within our own operations and across the wider industry.

We’re looking forward to playing our part and working with the growing network of Construct Zero businesses.

Last week marked 10 years since Cadman Cranes became part of Milbank Group.

It’s been a significant decade for the business. With the support and investment of the Group behind us, Cadman has continued to strengthen and evolve, investing in our people and fleet, expanding our capabilities and taking on projects across the UK, while staying true to the experience and relationships the business was built on.

To mark the anniversary, we brought the Cadman and Milbank Group teams together last week. Group Chairman Sean Milbank presented Managing Director Matthew Waddingham with a collection of photos capturing some of the people, projects and moments from across the last decade, accompanied by a few Cadman-branded biscuits!

It was a great opportunity to get both teams together, look back at what’s been achieved and mark an important 10 years in Cadman’s history.

Here’s to the next chapter.

A recent 21-day programme at British Steel's Scunthorpe works saw our specialist grab solution put to work clearing two lagoons.

Working alongside Bryn Thomas Cranes, our team removed around 3,000 tonnes of sediment, clearing the lagoons and leaving the system ready for continued operation over the coming years.

Projects like this are exactly where our remote-controlled grab capability comes into its own, allowing large volumes of material to be removed efficiently from areas where conventional excavation methods aren't practical.

A great job by Appointed Person, Craig Woodward, and everyone involved, completed safely and on programme.

We recently supported Pathfinder Clean Energy (PACE) Limited with the unloading and positioning of 12 inverters and six transformers across two Norfolk solar projects: Three Bridges Solar Farm and Attleborough Road Solar Farm.

With individual units weighing up to 22.5 tonnes, the work was delivered over approximately two months. Deliveries arrived in stages, including transformers from overseas, so each visit was planned around the delivery programme and site readiness.

The two 25 MWp projects have more than 70,000 solar panels between them. With all 18 units in position, work has continued towards planned energisation later in 2026.
