Two years of Mills Virtual Assistance.
And this week feels extra special.

It’s my birthday.
It’s my daughter’s birthday.
It’s World Book Day.
And she’s going as the word Resilient.
Which honestly couldn’t be more fitting.

When I started MVA, we had just moved back to England after years abroad. New area. No family nearby. A 5‑year‑old and a 1‑year‑old. Renting and moving three times in two years because we couldn’t get a mortgage after living overseas.
I was juggling childcare, nap times, and building a business from scratch. Some days I wondered if I should give up and go back to a PAYE job in London. Something “easier.” Something the mortgage lenders would prefer.
But it wouldn’t have been right for us.

So I kept going.

Slowly, things changed.

My business grew.
We finally got our mortgage and moved into what feels like our forever home.
I added work as an Independent Travel Agent and as an Event Manager for 
And I’ve learned so much about being my own boss along the way.

So having my daughter dress as Resilient this week feels perfect.
Because we’ve lived it.
We’re still living it.

✨ Breakfast meetings hit differently when you’re both a Virtual Assistant and a Travel Agent! ✨

Yesterday morning’s client meeting was the perfect blend of productivity and poached eggs…even if the temperature outside was absolutely freezing. 🥶 Meanwhile, inside, we were deep-diving into sun-soaked wedding venues in Cyprus, which definitely looked at least 25°C warmer! If only our fingertips thawed as quickly as those beachside resort photos loaded! ☀️😄

As a Virtual Assistant, I handle the organisation, communication, scheduling, and all the admin that keeps my clients’ business / life running smoothly. However, as a Travel Agent, I take those same strengths and turn them into real-world experiences; destination weddings, holidays, group trips, events, and more.

💼 Why these two roles work so well together:

➡️ As a VA, I already understand my clients’ needs, preferences, budgets, and workflow; so when travel or event planning comes into the picture, everything feels seamless.
➡️ Managing admin and managing travel often overlap: communication, logistics, timelines, suppliers, research, bookings; it’s all interconnected.
➡️ Clients get one point of contact who can handle the full picture: admin support and travel/event organisation.
➡️ And for me, combining both creates a business that’s more flexible, diverse, and rewarding.
