Next week, Tuesday 5th May will see a sale of first quality local sires in Kilrea Livestock Mart, an annual Holstein Northern Ireland event proudly sponsored by Wilson Agri. Regional sales manager Darren Hamill pictured will be present on sale day to assist with any housing or handling queries.

Holstein bull sale at Kilrea on 5th May

All roads will lead to Kilrea Livestock Mart on Tuesday, 5th May, for Holstein Northern Ireland’s annual show and sale of pedigree bulls.

Auctioneer Mark Stewart from HA McIlrath and Sons Ltd, has confirmed that the catalogue features an entry of 12 deep pedigreed bulls from leading herds, Keely (3), Prehen (5) and Relough (4).

Generously sponsored by Wilson Agri, the pre-sale show gets underway at 11.00am and will be judged by Adam Watson from the Derrydorragh Herd based at Macosquin, Coleraine. The sale will commence at noon (approx).

The bulls on offer range in age from September 2024 to April 2025, and boast GPLI values to £691 and PLI values up to £584. They are bred from proven cow families with dairy strength, production, components, fertility and longevity.

The catalogue includes sons of top AI sires and stock bulls such as Annandale Kraft EX95, Keely Arrival Lear; Winstar Meadow PP ET; Denovo 4798 Estate PP ET; Siemers Rengd Parfect ET A2A2; Progenesis Partner ET A2A2 and Winstar Klassic P ET A2A2.

Mark Stewart said: “The catalogue features a selection of quality Holstein and British Friesian bulls bred from some of the province’s top cow families. There is something for everyone, including A2A2, outcross and polled genetics, as well as bulls bred from multiple generations of VG and EX dams.
