Monday Evening = Training Evening 🚤⚓

As I am now an RNLI Crew volunteer at Llandudno RNLI Lifeboat Station, Monday evenings are dedicated to training.

While the rescues and callouts are often what people see, it's the hours spent training that help ensure the RNLI Crew are ready when the pager sounds. Every launch presents different challenges, and regular training gives us the skills, confidence, and teamwork needed to respond effectively and safely.

Training is so important because it allows us to:

✅ Keep essential lifesaving skills sharp
✅ Practice emergency scenarios in a controlled environment
✅ Build trust and communication within the crew
✅ Stay familiar with equipment and procedures
✅ Ensure the safety of both casualties and fellow volunteers

Being rescue-ready doesn't happen by chance. It takes commitment, dedication, and continuous learning from volunteers who give up their time to prepare for the moments when people need the RNLI most.

I'm proud to be part of a team that invests so much time and effort into training, ensuring the teams are ready to answer the call whenever it comes.

Today, I revisited one of my client's larger projects in Leicestershire as part of my ongoing Health & Safety support and monitoring programme.

The project, a state-of-the-art automated storage and distribution centre, continues to progress well, with around 90 of their electrical engineers and contractors currently working on the electrical installation and warehouse automation systems.

As part of my visit, I delivered a Health & Safety Toolbox Talk focusing on Drug and Alcohol Awareness. The session highlighted the importance of fitness for work, personal responsibility, and the impact that substance misuse can have on safety, decision-making, and the wellbeing of everyone on site.

Regular site visits, inspections, and toolbox talks play an important role in maintaining high safety standards, reinforcing positive behaviours, and ensuring that health and safety remains at the forefront of daily operations.

It was encouraging to see continued engagement from the workforce and a strong commitment from the management team to promoting a positive safety culture through visible leadership and ongoing communication.

Maintaining safe working practices on projects of this scale requires a collective effort, and it is great to see everyone playing their part.
Thanks to all the teams for their support.

Today, I completed my first training session as a volunteer with the RNLI 🚤

It was fantastic to get started, learn alongside the station crew, and meet such a great bunch of lads. There's a lot to take in, but I'm looking forward to developing my skills and learning even more at future training sessions.

I'm incredibly proud to be volunteering with the RNLI and to be part of such a dedicated team helping to save lives at sea. ❤️🌊

Yesterday, I had a fabulous day visiting a client in Shropshire to review and discuss priorities for their Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Management System.

It was a productive meeting with the director, focused on identifying key improvements and setting clear actions to strengthen the management systems and maintain compliance throughout the year ahead.

Great discussions, clear objectives, and a shared commitment to continual improvement. I look forward to supporting the team as they deliver these actions and further enhance their HSE performance.

I also brought along some donuts for the office team, which were very well received 😍😀

I’m proud to share that I’ve recently volunteered as a Good Samaritan Responder, helping respond to basic life support and cardiac arrest emergencies within my local community.
In situations like cardiac arrest, every second matters. Alongside my training & experience, I also have my own AED ready for emergency response if needed.
I’ve already responded to assist with two suspected cardiac arrest emergencies this month, which has reinforced just how important community responders can be in those critical first moments before ambulance crews arrive.
It’s a responsibility I take seriously, and I’m proud to contribute in a way that could help save lives.
