Every quarter I try to have a ‘CEO’ day.

This is where I spend time looking on at my business to get to grips with doing or planning the things I just don’t get the time or headspace for day to day.

I like to get my own processes and systems tightened up and undoubtedly things need tweaking slightly from quarter to quarter.

Being objective on my own business is something I find particularly tricky.

How often do you say 'yes' when your gut says 'no' 👍 👎

Saying 'no' is really tricky. It can be very empowering on the one hand, but a real worry on the other hand.

When I work with my clients (who are all fantastic by the way) I ask them if they say 'no' to potential customers.

99% say that they find this tricky 😕 😟They worry they are turning down income 😟They may not be fully in tune with their ideal client and have not thought about the 'filters' for spotting a good client v's a bad client 😟They simply cant say the word no.

So tell me what is your best strategy for saying no?

I must of sussed out hundreds of different CRM systems- you name it and I have had a demo.

We are all drawn to the nice shiny new tool that can change our lives, but in reality we humans still have to operate it. If we dont have a clear process of how we execute the day to day, critical tasks for our business, then how can we expect a shiny new tool to do it?

When it comes down to it, we all just need something simple. Our human brain is still adapting to technology.

Over the last three years, I have distilled down to one CRM that I rate. I rate it on simplicity, cost, usability and integration. They truly make life easier.

This is why I have chosen to focus soley on one CRM, Capsule CRM.

apps Asana is a project management tool. I use it for delivery of my projects. After mapping out and documenting the steps I take to complete a project, then a task, then a subtask, I set Asana up to reflect these steps and it gave me a repeatable way to deliver consistently (without missing something important). Before you rush to create another log in for an account that you never use. Why not think about the delivery part of your business, the day to day doing. Think of it a bit like a website. You dont pop a website online and just leave it...it is something that needs reviewing, new content adding and something that changes to reflect the landscape of your business.

What I find when I speak to business owners about a CRM is that once it is set up and running, that is it job done and off we go. It isnt like that. Much the same as a website, it will need updating, cleaning up, new content adding and refreshes to ensure that the maximum can be acheived.

Below is a picture of Ed and Phil from 2Engage taken recently at one of our customer journey and CRM check in's. I started working with them in August 2021 .

They came to me about a CRM for their business, so true to my way of working we stood back to explore their customer journey and what was business critical in that process first. They needed to have a consistent way of dealing with the whole process, from lead generation, to onboarding to how they were going to retain their customers. Only once this was understood, I set up the CRM system bespoke to their needs.

Now we continue to meet up for our quarterly session were we revisit what they set out to achieve 12 months ago. We ensure the customer journey is still working for them and that their CRM is reflective of this.

They describe our get togethers as thoughtful and bespoke planning to overcome our obstacles.

"Veronica brings a practical framework (the customer journey framework) to focus us in on one business critical service and how we make the customer journey and CRM as easy as possible".

Last time we focussed on there 'back to our futures' service/performance. 2engage offer transformational performances to higher and further educational students around rescilience and how to regain human connection with their feelings. These guys connect in such a way that breaks down so many barriers for young people that they can begin to make better sense. “I can probably do this myself”

Have you ever had that thought 👆and then did the thing that you thought you could do yourself and then cocked it up?

I have been approached over the last month from two separate business owners who did just that.

In both occasions they had used tags in totally the wrong way. Tags, by the way, are used in Capsule CRM as a way of grouping contacts together with the same characteristics.

Instead I’d seen them used for labelling addresses and for tasks. Ummm interesting.
