My favourite framing of the year. So simple but so effective. The beige mount is chosen from a choice of over one hundred and the pastel blue frame paint is mixed to match the sky. Next up is my best attempts at art this year and finally, my favourite apprentice of the year in the paintshop. 😍

Been very busy framing stuff for the Riding Mill Art Club Exhibition this weekend but couldn't resist putting off framing two very special items of art for customers further afield. The first is a lino print of Wolvee the dog and the second is a very unique pen and needlework image of the British Isles. The artwork is on beautiful handmade paper that I have float mounted in a pewter frame with jet black back mount and slip.

It's a bit easier but nevertheless very satisfying to frame high quality prints with high quality conservation grade mat...

It's a bit easier but nevertheless very satisfying to frame high quality prints with high quality conservation grade materials. This silver and black moulding by is one of my favourites.

This frame moulding profile was machined, finished and painted to replicate an existing vintage frame of the customers.

Two rules I generally follow in the design of a picture frame are to make sure that the frame is in harmony with the painting and to avoid stark white backgrounds. On this occasion however, doing the exact opposite has worked really well on these three antique, oil on wood paintings. The custom made mouldings with matt black exterior and polar white linings bring a complete new lease of life to the artwork. Thanks to Helen at the The Feathers Inn for letting me loose on them.

No job too big or small as they say. 2024 has been busy already with all manner of requests including this very big Hockney print framed in solid oak with low reflective acrylic glazing and these two dainty birdie pictures in my favourite combo of open grain black moulding with dawn grey mounts.
