🥾 BOOT CHECK
It’s raining, it’s pouring… and your boots gave out this morning. 🌧️🥾
With wetter weather on the way, now’s a good time to give your safety boots a proper Boot Check.
Safety footwear doesn’t last forever. Regular wear, weather, chemicals, heat and general use can all affect the condition and performance of your boots.
👀 WHAT SHOULD YOU CHECK?
💧 WATER GETTING IN?
If your feet are getting wet when they shouldn’t be, check the condition of the upper, seams and soles. Water ingress can be a sign that the boot’s protective properties are no longer performing as intended.
👟 WORN-OUT SOLES?
Take a look at the tread underneath. If it’s becoming smooth, worn or damaged, the boot may not provide the same level of grip — particularly on wet or slippery surfaces.
🥾 DAMAGED UPPER?
Look for cracks, splits, holes, separated stitching or excessive wear. Damage to the upper can affect the overall integrity of the boot and may mean it’s time for a replacement.
⚠️ TOE CAP TAKEN A KNOCK?
If your boots have suffered a significant impact, don’t simply carry on wearing them. Check for visible damage and, if you're unsure, speak to someone who can advise whether they should be replaced.
🔍 DON’T FORGET THE INSIDE
Check the lining, footbed and insole too. Excessive wear, damage or poor support can affect comfort and fit — especially if you're wearing your boots for long periods.
A safety boot can look fine at first glance, so take a couple of minutes to give them a proper check.
