**Is continuous provision sometimes misunderstood in Early Years?**

I'd be interested to hear what other Early Years professionals think about this.

When we visit settings, one of the most useful questions we can ask isn't:

**"What resources are available?"**

It's:

**"What can children actually learn here?"**

There can be a temptation to think that good continuous provision means constantly changing activities, adding attractive enhancements or creating something new for children every day.

But strong continuous provision should give children opportunities to return to familiar resources and experiences, practise skills, develop their own ideas, solve problems and deepen their learning.

And then there's the adult.

When should they join the play?
When should they model something?
When should they introduce new vocabulary?
When should they provide additional challenge?
And, importantly, when should they step back?

We've been developing a new EYBS resource around this and it has prompted some really interesting conversations.

So I'd love to know:

👇 **If you could change ONE thing about continuous provision in your setting tomorrow, what would it be?**

The resources?
The environment?
Adult interactions?
Understanding the learning behind each area?
Something completely different?

I'd genuinely love to hear what other settings are finding.
