Falmouth-based marine biologist, Emily Cunningham MBE has today announced her brand-new book, Our Ocean to Save.

Packed with practical, accessible and inspiring advice, Our Ocean to Save is a guide to what the future of the ocean, and the future of humanity, could look like - if only we take action.

Informed by Emily’s fifteen years of experience at the frontline of ocean conservation, this advice is brought-to-life through stories from her adventures across our blue planet – whether diving in a submersible in Antarctica or campaigning for better protection for our marine environment.

Launch event round up 🥳🥂🙌🏼

70 of you incredible business owners, leaders and professionals gathered at Scorrier House on Friday for the launch event of In The Room Collective 🙌🏼

An opportunity to get out of your day to day routine and work on your business and personal development! We were so inspired by talks from Perry Hughes Deputy Managing Director at and Emily Cunningham 💙 Rounded up with an intention setting activity to ensure that the benefits of the event lasted well beyond the morning 🙌🏼

Attendees came from a range of industries from financial services to holistic therapies, and property development to videography 🎥 The kind of variety that leads to incredible knowledge sharing and collaboration!

With 15 years of experience in conservation, working across the UK, Antarctica, South and North America, and Asia, Emily Marine Biology Life is a globally recognised leader in her field. As part of WWF International, she leads a conservation initiative spanning 14 countries, and was awarded an MBE in the King’s New Year Honours List 2025 for her services to marine conservation and coastal communities. A Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and the first in her family to attend university, Emily’s journey is one of ambition, resilience, and purpose-led impact.

Burnout to Book Deal: A Story of Trusting Your Gut (& 10,000 Penguins)
In this talk, Emily takes us back to 2022, when she appeared successful from the outside... leading a national coalition of 57 local authorities, sitting on the board of the UK's leading marine organisation, and having just bought a house. Yet, internally, she was struggling with 60 hour work weeks, and signs of burnout. When an unexpected opportunity arose to join an expedition to Antarctica, she made the bold decision to walk away from stability and into the unknown. Trusting her gut led to her standing among 10,000 penguins, going viral, and securing an international book deal! In the talk Emily will share her personal learning on seeking your own version of success, and sticking with it even when those you respect question you!

I’ve always been passionate about business... I grew up around a family business, studied Business Management at university, and now run my own. I love hearing about people's business journeys and connecting them with others!
