All from my home studio by the sea in Mevagissey, Cornwall. We are a husband and wife team: Vicky heads up the graphic design and handmade gifts, whilst James is the talent behind the lens, together we make quite the creative pair!

Good morning from the Roberts Gallery in beautiful Mevagissey, Cornwall.

My name is Vicky, you may have seen me in the gallery working (mostly Thursdays) I’ve been part of this amazing shop for a while year now: I run Bear & Pickle. You may have seen or purchased one of my Cornish Piskies.

I am going to be taking over the page going forward. Posting daily updates from now on: expect artist features, gift ideas, updates from around the shop, harbour photos, shop facts, shop opening times, weather and tide times. Of course any other events going on in the harbour like feast week and shanty fest etc.

I live in Mevagissey myself and will try to entice you down to our beautiful harbour each day hehe

‘Enjoy wandering around the boats, eat a pasty or ice cream, spot the resident seal, take in the history at the local museum and of course enjoy shopping handmade with us ‘ x

My popular Cornish Piskie boxes are starting to make their way back online, after having their box wording updated, stories edited and the whole collection condensed to make it more manageable. Here's the third... Lowenna, who now has pinky toned hair and a cute ladybird friend and her story scroll reads…

owenna - a name that means “joyful.” True to that meaning, Lowenna was known for being cheerfully optimistic and hopeful in every situation. While other piskies delighted in harmless mischief, Lowenna chose instead to spread kindness.

With a generous heart and a gentle spirit, they brought comfort and encouragement to all they encountered. It is said that when clouds gather over Cornwall and spirits begin to fade, a quiet touch of brightness appears just when it is needed most — and somewhere nearby, Lowenna is twirling, hopeful as ever.

Second Piskie to return is Demelza.
I’ve rewritten her story scroll and it’s beautiful. Have a read:

Demelza is a tender-hearted little soul with big worries- but even bigger courage! Each morning they take a deep breath, straighten their shoulders, and fasten their invisible armour, stitched from love and stardust.

My rainbow collection of potted flower Piskies are all now online too, making a beautiful gift for someone who may need a little reminder to “Keep going, your roots are stronger than the shadows around you.”

Another alternative to my boxed Cornish Piskies, they could be a mothers day plant, mum won't need to water. A thank you gift for a teacher for helping their little one grow. Maybe to brighten Grandmas birthday. Or even a graduation gift, ‘time to bloom’.
