Celebrating some wins today, happy customers make me very happy 💕

I’ve been setting up a new CRM for a new client, with a new domain achieving good email deliverability can be tricky 🥴

I advised on best practise and followed my own advice to warm the domain, I also researched and curated an email list of highly suitable clients. This has resulted in 100% of emails delivered, 70% open rate and 33.3% click through rate 🤯

Those stats are HUGE even for a known domain with warm leads, for cold leads it’s actually incredible so for once i’m actually blowing my own trumpet and giving myself a little pat on the back 🎉

When a friends asks if I want to go swimming in the middle of the day I’m always down 👌💕

Gosh I really have been neglecting this page recently, it's because I've been busy growing my profile for my mentoring, I've had a great week with not 1 but 2 of my mentees landing their first contracts - so happy for them, and it gives me faith that I'm on the right path! I may end up putting this group on pause for a while if I can't keep up with it all but for now please enjoy this little poem I had fun creating about my working life :)

💻✨ Tech Tools I Can’t Live Without – Today’s Spotlight: Canva! 🎨🚀

I wasn’t planning to do a ‘top tools’ post today (I’m deep in a website build for my latest project!), but since I just earned my latest badge of honour, I thought—what better time to shout about one of my absolute favourite tools?

💙 Canva is an absolute game-changer! It’s one of the few tech tools I happily pay full price for because the premium features are 100% worth it.

I’m not a designer, but I know what looks good—and Canva makes it effortless to bring my vision to life. With:

🚀 Today's Top Tool Tip: Google Workspace ✨

I used to be a Microsoft girl—it's what I'd always used in the workplace. But early in my digital nomad journey, I discovered the wonder that is Google Workspace, and now? I’m a total convert! 🎉

Here’s why I LOVE it:

✔️ The next tier is around £12/month, which is still a steal!
✔️ Google Meet alone can save you on video conferencing costs.

✔️ Get a custom email like [email protected] when you use your own domain.

📁 Seamless File Management & Collaboration
✔️ Google Drive keeps everything organised.

✨ Today’s Tool: Project Management Apps! ✨

There are loads of project management tools out there, and many offer a free plan—perfect for solopreneurs or start-ups! 🚀

The big names? ClickUp, Monday, and Asana. These are some of the most popular and well-known platforms.

💡 My take?
✔️ For my own projects (and when working with clients), I prefer Asana—it’s intuitive and keeps me organised.
✔️ But many of my clients love ClickUp for collaborative work!

So, what’s the best one? It depends! I recommend trying a couple of different platforms to see which one feels most natural to you—that’s the one you’ll be most productive with. ✅

Which project management tool do you swear by? Drop it in the comments! ⬇️

So I did promise to review some automation tools but it's a little later in the day than I planned as I've gotten a little side tracked launching something new and exciting!

If anyone wants to join my new group https://www.facebook.com/groups/1274365556979098/ please feel free! The idea is to create a community of people who dream of becoming digital nomads or who are actively planning the big escape. I'd like to encourage meaningful discussion and hopefully impart some useful knowledge from what my 3+ year journey has taught me!

As for tools - for today I'm going to focus on video/audio editing. One of my absolute favourite tools to work with is Descript! It is a video editing software that allows you to edit video or audio (via transcript) as text. It’s so easy to use and super quick!

There is a totally free plan, which has some amazing features and allows an hour of transcript per month. If you need more, their paid plans start at a very reasonable £10 per month, including some AI features! You can have a lot of fun with Descript!

What Does ‘Busywork’ Really Mean?
I use this phrase all the time, but I hadn’t realised how unfamiliar it might be to those outside the world of automation—shout-out to one of my lovely proofreaders for pointing it out!

So, what is busywork?
It’s exactly what it sounds like—work that keeps you busy but doesn’t actually move your business forward.

🔻 Common examples of busywork:
❌ Manually sending and tracking invoices & payment reminders
❌ Manually keeping on top of customer enquiries and typing out the same responce time and again
❌ Sorting and labelling emails every day
❌ Manually posting to social media across multiple platforms
❌ Rewriting the same email responses over and over
❌ Sending onboarding documents to every new client manually
❌ Manually tracking deadlines & project updates
❌ Chasing clients for feedback or approvals
❌ Manually scheduling meetings with endless back-and-forth emails
❌ Copy-pasting Zoom links into calendar invites
❌ Manually moving data between apps
❌ Constantly tweaking your website instead of focusing on lead generation
❌ Replying to emails the moment they come in instead of batching responses
❌ Sitting in unnecessary Zoom meetings that could have just been an email

Sound familiar? You’re not alone!

Busywork isn’t just unproductive—it’s mentally exhausting. It’s one of the biggest reasons small business owners feel overwhelmed and stretched too thin. It’s easy to get bogged down in these tasks and feel like you’re making progress, when in reality, you’re just spinning your wheels.

The good news? It doesn’t have to be this way! 🚀

There are so many brilliant tools and apps designed to take these repetitive tasks off your plate—some free, others low-cost, but all incredibly cost-effective when you consider how much time and stress they save you.

⏳ Over the next few days, I’ll be reviewing some of the best free and budget-friendly automation tools that can help you cut down on busywork and reclaim your time. Stay tuned! 👀

PS if there's something you are struggling with in particular, or a dream tool you'd love to have - comment below and I'll try and include a platform that meets your needs!

Of all the lovely places I get to work from while we reside in this marina this is one of my absolute favourites 👌 Hubby needs to get into some cabinets as we have a leaking stanchion so I’ve escaped to focus on work without being in the way! On the agenda today client meeting, some research, some training, update social (tick 😂) and continuing a website build I started last week (this one is proving to be a lot of fun to do as the subject matter is cute and fluffy - literally!)

As promised Q&A:

Q1: What do I do?
I work as a tech VA - a virtual assistant with a tech bias. I learn your pain points and issues and try to find the most efficient way to address them, ideally eliminating the busywork through the use of automation. If that's not possible, I can take on those tasks that you dislike.

Q2: How do I work from a boat in the ocean?
At the moment, we're coastal cruising in the Mediterranean, so it's actually quite straightforward (mobile coverage is significantly better than in the UK across almost all of our cruising grounds.) I use a local SIM card and hotspot from my mobile. When we're making big crossings of 2–3 days at sea, I let my clients know in plenty of time that I'll be temporarily unavailable, I also try to time it over weekends where possible. If we ever decide to go further afield, I will likely invest in a Starlink system. I've only ever had one instance of patchy internet access combined with a last-minute, urgent task from a client. If needed, we would have moved to a different anchorage, but as it happens, running my mobile phone up to the top of the mast worked a treat!

Q3: What is my favourite task?
I actually have two joint winners. Firstly, I love doing automations - that's basically building a robotic process that says, "When this happens, do X, Y, Z." A very simplified example is: if someone fills in a contact form, you might want to send them an introductory email and perhaps follow up later with a discount offer. Rather than doing it manually, an automation would handle it for you, merging in the person's contact details, addressing the email to them directly and following up at the specified time, so you don’t need to remember. Automations can be simple or complex, but either way, they are incredibly powerful!

Secondly, I love building online training courses and ensuring they work seamlessly and look aesthetically pleasing. 😊

Those are the questions I get asked most often. If you have any others, feel free to ask!

Shameless plug:
If you are an entrepreneur or small business owner who wants to embrace tech but doesn't know where to start—or even what's possible—then feel free to reach out for a chat.
