I went to Dordon to show you round one of the more interesting small investments I’ve had through the door this year.

Nuneaton: 23 empty shops. Daventry: 7.
Same 20-minute walk, same day of the week, same time, same rules.
Amazon delivers to both towns. But Daventry has free parking and has had investment in its town centre, and it was busy.
Maybe online shopping isn't the whole story after all.

Last week I counted 23 empty shops on a 20-minute walk round Nuneaton town centre, and lots of you said the same thing: it's online shopping, and the high street is never coming back.
So I went to Daventry and did exactly the same walk. Same 20 minutes, same day of the week, same time. I found 7 empty units, and the town was busy.
People in Daventry shop online just as much as people in Nuneaton. The difference I saw was free parking and a town centre that's had some investment. When it's easy and pleasant to go into town, people go.
