Reminder: Tom White will be closed on the Spring Bank Holiday (Mon 25th May) 🚨

Work on 25/05/2025 will be operating 24-48 hours behind the normal schedule.

Important news regarding May Bank holiday opening times! 🚨

Tom White will be closed on both May Bank holidays (Monday 4th and 25th). Work on both 04/05/2026 and 25/05/2025 will be operating 24-48 hours behind the normal schedule.

This affects all sites due to be serviced that week, so we kindly ask that all containers be made accessible from 6 am - 4 pm daily from Tuesday (5th, 26th) to Saturday (9th, 30th) to ensure no missed services. This may mean your service takes place on Saturday 9th & 30th May.

Happy Easter from Tom White! 🐰

We’re taking the opportunity to update you on our Easter Bank Holiday service schedule, along with our opening times.

We will be operating as normal on Good Friday (3rd April), however there will be no services on Bank Holiday Monday (6th April).

To recover this, collections will run 24-48 hours behind schedule, so services may take place between Tuesday-Saturday (6am-4pm) - and could be as late as Saturday 11th April.

This affects all sites, so please ensure containers are accessible to avoid any missed collections. If your site will be closed, let us know in advance to avoid wasted journeys.

We automatically reschedule services over bank holidays, but if you need to make any changes, please get in touch via the link in our bio.

The Tom White Waste volunteers had a great time litter-picking in Coventry with Chat Central Coventry and the Wombles litter-picking group! ♻️

☔ Despite the rain, it was great to see such an amazing turn-out of people all working together to help improve our local community and make a positive impact on the environment – we totalled 17 bags and 3 canisters collected! It was also wonderful to see the appreciation from residents and local businesses, offering hot drinks at the end of the litter pick.

Voluntary Action Coventry, a project run by Chat Central Coventry, aims to connect people to volunteering opportunities and community groups across the city. Chat Central organise group volunteering sessions such as the litter pick in Radford with the Wombles supported by local business Tom White, as well as a range of social activities including arts and crafts, sports taster sessions, wellbeing events and historical talks and visits.

To close out National Apprenticeship Week, we’re heading to the workshop to celebrate our HGV apprentices: Harry (1st Year), Rico (2nd Year) and Freddie (3rd Year)! 🔧🚛

They are working towards their HGV Maintenance and Diagnostics NVQ Level 3, learning hands-on skills from our experienced technicians every day.

Harry joined us in October 2025 and has already hit the ground running. Getting stuck into replacing suspension bushes, fitting brake discs, and carrying out diagnostics with confidence.

Now in his second year, Rico has grown massively in both skill and confidence. He’s working independently on a range of jobs and expanding his knowledge of AdBlue systems and component replacements.

Freddie joined us in November 2023 and continues to build his experience by shadowing our technicians, carrying out minor repairs, and completing inspections on smaller vehicles.

For the apprentices, hands-on learning was the appeal. As Rico puts it: "I always struggled learning from books and found it easier to learn from being hands-on."
With mentoring, daily support, and regular reviews, our workshop team ensures these apprentices have everything they need to become fully qualified HGV technicians. Good luck to you all! 👏

Next up on National Apprenticeship Week, we're spotlighting Pawel Antolec, our Plant Manager, currently working towards his Level 7 Strategic Leader qualification. 🎓

Pawel's journey with Tom White reflects our commitment to developing talent at every level. Starting his apprenticeship in July 2025, Pawel's typical day includes morning team briefings, site walks, meetings, quality control activities, and ongoing operational reviews.

Through his studies, Pawel has developed stronger decision-making techniques, investigation and fact-finding skills, and a deeper understanding of business culture, all whilst continuing to contribute to day-to-day operations.

When asked about the biggest challenge, Pawel highlighted managing team perception around internal changes, suggesting increased engagement and team involvement as potential solutions.

At Tom White, we offer apprenticeships from Level 3 upwards, tailored to individual development plans and career goals. For Pawel, the self-development opportunities have been the best part, helping him perform his role more effectively while building towards long-term career progression.
