Whilst AI brings many efficiency benefits, it also comes with risks that should be approached with caution.

AI bias is one of them, and we explore what this means in this week’s blog:

From stock market IPOs to the threat of advanced computer hacking, AI is never out of the news. It is a big thing in businesses generally, and HR…

Cast a look over the Employment Rights Act, and when it comes to the biggest change – the expanded unfair dismissal rights for employees – you’d be forgiven for thinking you don’t have to do anything until 2027.

But you’d be wrong.

This week's blog explains why changes need to be made now, and what those changes are:

As part of Volunteers’ Week, we're celebrating the difference our team makes in the community.

Our Director, Charlotte, volunteers as a Brownie Leader giving her time to help young girls build confidence, learn new skills and have fun along the way.

These photos capture a recent visit to the local fire station, including her daughter, who is a Rainbow. Seeing young people grow through organisations like Girlguiding is one of the many rewards of volunteering.

A huge thank you to the volunteers across the country who dedicate their time to supporting and inspiring the next generation.

Navigating protests and unrest in the workplace isn’t new, but today’s employers need to be clear and proactive to keep conversations respectful and workplaces running smoothly.

Our latest blog explains how you can do this:

Are your appraisals actually helping people grow, or just ticking a box once a year?

A client recently asked me to review their appraisal process. They were running long, once-a-year appraisals and both managers and employees felt they were a chore rather than a useful conversation. They had also never achieved 100% completion.

We redesigned the appraisals into shorter, focused forms completed twice a year. I ran training sessions with all employees and the management team on how to fill out the forms and how to get the most from both the half-year and full-year reviews.

The impact has been huge. Appraisals are now 100% complete, employees are clear on what they’re working towards and what the future looks like, and several people have been identified for career development who would have been missed under the old process.

As a result, internal promotions are happening more often and employees can see that hard work and effort are recognised and rewarded.

If you suspect your appraisal process is more paperwork than performance, I’m happy to offer a free, no-obligation review of your current contracts.

Do you think you can withdraw a job offer without risk before someone starts? A recent Employment Appeals Tribunal ruling suggests otherwise.
Read our latest blog to learn the technicalities for employers and the steps to take if you find yourself in this position:

In ancient scripture it was said that “the Lord giveth, and the Lord taketh away”. But he never got hauled before an employment tribunal for doing so. A…

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week.

Poor mental health at work costs businesses significantly in absence, turnover and lost productivity. But beyond the numbers, it costs people.

If you manage a team, this week is a good moment to ask yourself one honest question: would someone on your team feel safe telling you they were struggling?
