Are your appraisals actually helping people grow, or just ticking a box once a year?
A client recently asked me to review their appraisal process. They were running long, once-a-year appraisals and both managers and employees felt they were a chore rather than a useful conversation. They had also never achieved 100% completion.
We redesigned the appraisals into shorter, focused forms completed twice a year. I ran training sessions with all employees and the management team on how to fill out the forms and how to get the most from both the half-year and full-year reviews.
The impact has been huge. Appraisals are now 100% complete, employees are clear on what they’re working towards and what the future looks like, and several people have been identified for career development who would have been missed under the old process.
As a result, internal promotions are happening more often and employees can see that hard work and effort are recognised and rewarded.
If you suspect your appraisal process is more paperwork than performance, I’m happy to offer a free, no-obligation review of your current contracts.
