We love to see how the community at Grow Gurnard have found a second purpose for our empty hessian sacks!

🌱 A little Grow Gurnard update! 🌱

With the summer holidays in full swing, our wonderful volunteers have been a little thinner on the ground ☀️🏖️... but we are still growing! 💚

Here's a little look at how we're doing our bit for the circular economy by giving local materials a second life. ♻️

☕ Jaspers Coffee sacks bring Fairtrade beans all the way to Cowes... and once they've finished their journey, they come to us!

We've found plenty of uses for them around the garden:

🪱 Shielding our wormery from the harsh summer sun.
🥒 Keeping our courgette roots moist and happy.
🌱 Protecting young seedlings while they get established.

And the best bit? Our worms have been working hard too! They're now producing beautiful, nutrient-rich compost that we can mix with soil to raise healthy seedlings, ready for the later growing season. 🌼🌿

Nothing goes to waste, and every little bit helps! 💚♻️

Specialty coffee isn’t just a label. The Specialty Coffee Association defines it strictly as coffee that scores 80 points or higher on a 100-point scale, requiring meticulous care at every single stage from seed to cup. This is why every single coffee we source is certified specialty grade.

Countless decisions happen long before our coffee ever reaches your mug. It all starts with the selection of green beans, like the ones in this photo. We carefully select them not just for exceptional quality and flavour, but for how well they support local community initiatives in producing regions.

Once the beans arrive to the roastery, we carefully profile each unique batch to showcase natural flavours of the coffee thanks to the years of dedication from producers. From there, we roast weekly. This guarantees your coffee arrives at your door with the perfect amount of resting time, ready for peak flavour extraction.

Summer events season is officially underway, and it’s been amazing seeing so many new and familiar faces.

The events team kicked things off keeping the shots flowing for the lively crowds at Classic Isle last weekend. Keep an eye out for next year’s dates—it’s not one to miss.

Last month, our friends at Keert helped us transport our entire setup straight from our Cowes roastery to the Isle of Wight Festival— swipe to the end to see them on the move. The team at UV Ultimate Vision were busy serving up specialty coffee to VIP guests while showcasing their incredible eyewear.

We built this mobile setup to be completely adaptable. Powered by a Sanremo Coffee Machines UK Compact Zoe and SR Evo Sense grinders, it fits into tight spaces (and cargo bikes!) without compromising on the quality of the pour.

Thanks to everyone who made the start of the season so brilliant.

Our Home Brew and Home Barista courses are designed to give you the knowledge and confidence to brew properly — not just follow a recipe. Hosted at our Cowes roastery, these relaxed, small-group sessions are fully hands-on and rooted in the same standards we apply to every batch we roast.

On the Home Brew Course, we explore grind size, ratios and extraction across popular brew methods, helping you unlock clarity, balance and sweetness in the cup.

Our Home Barista Course focuses on espresso dial-in, milk texturing and building consistency — so you understand what’s happening in every shot, not just how to press the button.

Thoughtful, practical and flavour-led.

This week we had the pleasure of hosting Lorraine, Patrick and David from Cowes Town Council at the roastery.

There’s something special about showing people what really goes into a cup of coffee — from green bean to roast profile to the final pour.

We spent the morning talking through sourcing, sustainability, and traceability, before diving into a proper tasting session.

It’s always a privilege to share what we do with those helping shape our local community. Coffee might seem simple — but when you understand the journey behind it, it becomes something else entirely.
