Fenix is owned and managed by David Hewitson and Colin King, amalgamating many years of experience from their former companies; European Landmine Solutions, Ritherdon Consulting and C King Associates Ltd. Q, S & E MANAGEMENT
Fenix develops and undertakes a wide range of quality, safety and environmental management work in both office and site-based environments, using formal certified systems, and

supports international partners through development of complete management systems and drafting industry standards. We undertake disassembly of live ammunition allowing for potential deliverables including ammunition stockpile destruction programs, production of training aids, detailed technical reports and countermeasure development. Fenix has an extensive collection of inert mines, cluster munitions and other recovered ordnance. Pieces are used for training, analysis and production of new imagery. Our dedicated workshop allows the manufacture of accurate mine surrogates for use in research, development or detection training. We also produce a range of IED, Landmine and UXO-recognition playing cards, and a set of IED recognition posters.

Our latest SITREP examines how drone spillover incidents triggered Latvia’s political crisis—highlighting how “accidental” events can have strategic consequences.

Using METIS data, we show that cross-border munitions incidents are increasing, raising the risk of escalation with NATO and increased risk to the civilian population beyond Ukraine.

We’re pleased to share that David Hewitson will be attending the 29th International Meeting of Mine Action National Directors & UN Advisers (NDM‑UN) next week.

On Thursday afternoon, David will join James Madison University (Center for International Stabilization and Recovery - CISR) on the panel for Workshop 2: Leadership in Mine Action – Strategic Readiness for a Changing Sector. The session will explore how mine action leaders can build adaptive strategies, strengthen institutional resilience, and prepare for the sector’s evolving operational and policy challenges.
