Ancestor and Living Family Finder Specialist DNA Detective

This last month has been personally rewarding for myself when helping solve a neighbour's ancestry puzzles. This neighbour who has been a neighbour for over ten years, I never knew he was the half brother of a dear dear friend and class mate of mine until we left school and lost touch. I found my friend too late, he from my own research about five years ago had passed away. But I so longed for some photos of him.

From my research for my neighbour I suddenly noticed that his Mother had the same name and details of my dear friend at the time of researching my friend. I only researched his Mother and Father who I knew well. I did not research if his Mother had been married before so I assumed all my friend's sibling's back then when I was young had the same Father.

I asked my neighbour about his Mother and my dear friend, I told him his name and he explained my friend Neale was his half brother from his Mother's second marriage and that Neale was the 6th child, the baby of the family that came from that second marriage.
It was one of those amazing BINGO moments !
I did ask my neighbour how possibly we did not regonise each other when we must have grown up only roads away from each other but he said he was a much older brother.

But what came from this was that my neighbour shared so many photos of my dear friend Neale from a tiny tot, growing up, his wedding day and his funeral and even told me where his ashes were laid so I could and have visited a few times. On my visit's there I have chatted away to Neale to tell him just how thankful I was for his years of friendship, school fun, park fun and how he stood up to my bullies and taught me how to stand up to them myself and the self defence lessons he gave me.

This is just one of the many reason's I adore ancestry and family history work its always full of amazing twists and turns, unique surprises, bitter sweet turn ups, treasured photographs, and often being reunited with people that are important to you and are a big part of your life.

You will be remembered at the big school reunion and open day Im organising and your best friend Garry also a friend of mine will also be remembered too he too was taken too soon.

FORCED ADOPTION'S OF THE 50's,60's and 70's

Its is hard to comprehend that this actually happened in the UK, hearing and reading what these Mothers and their babies that grew up without their Mothers and Fathers went through because of it is unbelievably painful.

One of my case studies helped me to reunite two half Brothers who had been separated from such a forced adoption, both of whom didnt know about each other.I was tragically too late to reunite Mother and Son together because the Mother died before her forced adoption Son could be found.

It would not be right for me to give all the personal details of this case, but I know I can say that the adoption Son was told his Mother didnt want him which simply was not true as I was shown many items the Mother kept and things she did throughout her life after the adoption that proved he lived always in her heart and mind. Of course this caused lots of issues such as depression and confusion on both sides.

The ironic twist in this story is my own family tree's and my own DNA matches lead to reuniting this family as the adopted Brother had a sister who had built up his tree using his real Mother's details, she found me as a matching tree as his real Mother was actually my 2nd Cousin, she contacted me, telling me the story, and I sadly had to tell them that his Mother had recently sadly passed away, but delighted them to let them know I was in contact with my 3rd Cousin Glenn who was his half Brother ! Me and Glenn found each other via our DNA matches, there was another irony there too as me and Glen had grown up in the same community never knowing we were actually cousins !

I have helped another Mother and forced adoption Son reunite to by managing the Sons DNA results and building his family tree.

I have to say out of all the family cases where I reunite or help people find living relatives they never knew they had, nothing is more wonderful and joy giving as helping the forced adoption families come together again.

Studying your ancestors, family history and your family tree can come up with so many fascinating facts and people, and find often ancestors who have served and died in wars that you never have known about, it can find well known people, even Royal ancestors.

One of the other aspects I personally love to discover be it my own family tree's or working on other peoples tree's is the amazing ability to be able to find living relatives you have lost contact with, find living family you never knew you had or like what I have discovered this week is that the children of Dr Stephen Hawkins are indeed my 5th cousins!, via my 4th Great Grandfather Robert Grief from Norwich Norfolk!

CASE STUDY
For customer Katie Day who wanted ancestry research done as a gift for her Mothers Birthday.

A fascinating look into the farming community of Norwich and Norfolk through the centuries, this journey of research gave up a gruesome find which shows early evidence of start of the need for health and safety, which I discovered from researching Katie's 4th Great Grandfather William Goldson, William I discovered from Newspaper archives had died being grabbed into a thrashing machine as a farm labourer in April 1862.

When William Goldson was born in 1816 in Shipdham, Norfolk, his father, George, was 25 and his mother, Keziah, was 24. He married Hannah Gunton on 7 January 1838 in Hardingham, Norfolk. They had six children in 13 years, one of those children James witnessed his Fathers accident and death. William died in April 1862 at the age of 46, and was buried in Hardingham, Norfolk.

I have attached the newspaper report and coroners report in this post. It's very tragic and horrible to read the details but what is very interesting from an historical point of view is the mention of what needed to change in future to the machines to avoid this type of tragedy from happening again.
