We have been a bit quiet on here over the last few months with just no time to get stuff on the page. Over the next week or so we hope to get some info up on the projects we have been working on.

Today, we had the privilege of conducting a bat survey in one of Wales' historic castles as part of a listed building consent for a large re-roofing project. It was a truly unique and inspiring setting, and makes for an excellent location for international students to study.

This week, our team is conducting ecological supervision work on a small development site in Aberporth. Although it may be unfortunate to witness the removal of a hedge, it's crucial that the work is executed at the appropriate time of year and in a responsible and sensitive manner.

Last Friday we had the pleasure of meeting with Gareth Thomas, Senior Project Officer on the LIFE Quaking Bogs project at Crymlyn Bog NNR. As part of the reinstatement works, the project aims to improve the trackway by resurfacing it and lifting the crown, delimbing, and felling some trees along the edge. Before these works are carried out, a survey is being conducted to check for potential bat roosting in the trees.

Undertook some planting work on behalf of National Grid earlier this week.
Native locally sourced trees were planted to compensate a landowner following some tree removal under powerlines crossing their land.
Oak, hazel, hawthorn and blackthorn were planted in gaps within hedgerows, some oak saplings were also planted as standards in an open field.

We also planted some Elder, Honeysuckle and Guelder Rose as food plants for pollinators and other wildlife.

A few Welsh apple varieties were also planted for the property owners enjoyment as well as the wildlife

Many thanks to Farmyard Nurseries for the excellent quality plants.

We also donated a couple of Kent Bat Boxes as well as one of our own 100% recycled plastic bat boxes.
