Our hardwood picnic bench is far superior to the standard benches found in pub gardens across the UK. Although the design looks the same, the material used is tropical hardwood which is far more hard-wearing than the low-cost fast growing softwoods that are normally used. The reason we are able to offer a much higher quality product at the same price is that we are utilising lesser-known hardwoods that are a by-product of timber harvesting in Brazil.

Teak and Jatoba Deck Tiles

These maintenance-free decking squares come in a choice of tropical hardwoods that are naturally resilient to moisture. Extremely durable, they will not warp, crack or become brittle.
Each tile is 500cm by 500cm – 4 tiles to a pack provides 1 square metre. The 5 metre tiles require less sub-structure, cutting and
fastenings than traditional decking boards.

Carbon Locking

Once a mature tree is harvested there is a colossal difference in the value of carbon capture depending on the use that the timber is put to. Using wood for short-term gains such as fuel or paper making is directly returning carbon to the atmosphere. It is only when timber is put to long-term use that the carbon is locked in. This can take many forms, but certainly includes timber used in construction and furniture where life expectancy, hence carbon locking, can be measured in decades or even hundreds of years.

This is our classic half-moon shape Banana Bench, and at 1.5 metres it will comfortably seat up to 3 people. Its gentle curves make this an ideal choice for both modern and traditional gardens. Each bench is crafted by hand, and our joiners use mortise and tenon joints for extra strength of construction.

Our bench is made from high-quality teak for maximum outdoor durability and minimum maintenance. Teak is a tropical hardwood containing natural oils that give it inbuilt weatherproofing and makes it resistant to the effects of both sun and rain. Left alone, teak will age to a lovely silver-grey, but if desired the initial honey colour can be maintained by the application of ‘teak’ oil.

Ethically produced from sustainable plantations, this is an elegant but strong bench that will give many years of satisfaction.
