🔥 What happens on a fire alarm maintenance visit?

Fire alarms need regular maintenance to help make sure they work as they should when they’re needed most.

During a typical visit, our engineers may:

🔍 Check the control panel for faults and ensure it’s operating correctly.

🚨 Test relevant equipment, such as manual call points, detectors and sounders.

🔋 Check backup batteries and other key components for signs of damage or wear.

If anything needs attention, we’ll record our findings, explain the issue and provide a quote for any necessary repairs or replacements before any additional work goes ahead.

It’s all part of helping businesses maintain reliable fire alarm systems and stay prepared. ❤️

🔎 BEHIND THE JOB | Intrinsically Safe Fire Alarm System

The useful part of this job is making sure the fire alarm system is suited to the environment it will protect.

Our engineers are working on a new fire alarm system designed for a hazardous area, where specialist equipment is needed to suit the conditions on site.

The installation includes a new control panel, manual alarm call points, sounders and flashing beacons.

Every site has different needs, and choosing the right equipment is an important part of getting the job right. 🔥

🔧 A tidy installation makes a difference.

Neatly routed cables and suitable support help engineers trace circuits, identify faults and carry out future servicing more efficiently.

It’s the attention to detail behind the scenes that helps keep fire safety systems maintained and ready when they’re needed. 🔥

🎙️ Ruby’s been invited onto the 24/7 Pod… and she’s got some red flags to share. 🚩🐾

From overdue fire alarm servicing to broken access control, there are a few things Ruby thinks businesses shouldn’t be ignoring.

Her message is simple: don’t wait for something to go wrong before checking your fire & security systems are doing their job.

Happy National Podcast Day from Ruby & the 24/7 team! 🎧🐶

🔧 On site this week!

Our engineers have been out working on a gate as part of an access control upgrade. 👷‍♂️🔐

The work involves integrating the gate with an existing access control system, helping control access while also connecting it with the wider fire safety system.

From the installation work to the technical setup behind it, there’s a lot that goes into making sure everything works together safely and reliably. 🔥

Just another week of our engineers keeping things safe, secure and compliant.

🚨🔥 MAJOR INCIDENT REPORTED… Mark IS 50! 🔥🚨

We’ve checked the panel, reset the system and even called the monitoring station…

It’s confirmed.

Mark is officially 50. 😂

That’s:
🎂 Half a century
🔥 50 years of experience
🚨 Probably a few unwanted activations
🔋 And somehow, he’s still showing “System Normal”

From everyone at 24/7 Protection, we’d like to wish Mark Dunkerley a massive Happy 50th Birthday! 🥳🍻

Have a brilliant day, Mark, here’s to the next 50! 🍺🎉

🚨 Would YOUR fire alarm pass?

I’ve been into this building a few times over the last couple of months.

And every time I’ve walked past this fire alarm panel, something has caught my eye… 👀

2 zones in fault.
2 zones disabled.

And they’ve been showing for some time.

The problem with a fault that sits there long enough?

It can become normal.

People walk past it.
People get used to seeing the lights.
Eventually, nobody questions why they’re there.

⚠️ A fire alarm having power does not necessarily mean the whole system is healthy.

Faults and disablements should be investigated so you understand what’s affected and why.

So next time you walk past the fire alarm panel at work, actually look at it.

🟢 Is it healthy?
🟡 Is there a fault showing?
🚫 Is anything disabled?

What does YOUR fire alarm panel say right now?
