One of the most positive initiatives from the DWP in recent years has been the Kickstart scheme which is a six month contract role, designed to get young people in to work and on to a meaningful career path.

Best of all, the financial incentive that supports each member of staff is significant for the employer involved.

Being approved for the scheme can be problematic and time consuming which is where we at SWBSS step in. Our knowledge and experience of successfully applying for Kickstart status means that you are more likely to be approved, after all, we do have a 100% success rate.

Once approved we liaise with the DWP to help with the recruitment process. We write the job spec and draft the employment contracts. We even offer ongoing training for the employee and the employer as the contract gets underway.

5th part = Working from a safe house

SW Business Support Solutions is proud to give a calm and comfortable working environment for someone living in a safe house. The ability to work remotely gives the opportunity for a person to be kept secure, while working away on a challenging, yet fulfilling and important role, within the company.

Working from a safe home allows victims of domestic violence to create a future for themselves along with their families in an environment that they have the power to control. The company offers flexible working hours, that can be adjusted to the employees demands.

According to the Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW), the year ending in March 2020 had an estimated 5.5% of adults aged 16 to 74 (2.3 million people) experience domestic abuse. With Covid slowly becoming a thing of the past, the opportunity to jumpstart their career and in some cases, their life, is a chance not everyone will be given.

4th part = Disability in the workplace

For some employers, it’s not easy to look past the disability and see the brilliant talents and gifts each person can offer to their business. In some cases, employers would even turn down the employee based on a small disability. For example, a report by Parliament UK found that 400,000 disabled people were unemployed in the year from October to December 2020.

Working with what could be determined as a disability within the workplace, can be a difficult task to overcome. At SW Business Support Solutions, they find ways to adapt their working environment to suit the needs of the employee and as a result, they have thrived.

The company makes adjustments based on each person with a disability to ensure their qualities shine. Along with gaining a valued employee, the confidence they gain can be vital in making sure they succeed in the future.

3rd part = New Plymouth office

SW Business Support Solutions is happy to announce the opening of a 2nd office in Plymouth. The 2nd office is opening as a direct result of the company’s ability to utilise the kickstart programme to kickstart a young person’s career, as well as kickstart their own business.

The company believes they wouldn’t have been able to achieve what they have without the support from the Kickstart programme. Now they hold the keys to their new office and will be able to take on 35 employees.

With the implementation of the new office, remote workers in the local area of Plymouth will be given the opportunity to meet their fellow co-workers in person, compared to spending all their face-to-face contact, over zoom. Along with this, the extra space also allows for more employees to be employed through the programme, that made this all possible in the first place.

2nd part = Overcoming anxiety in the workplace

Dealing with anxiety in the workplace is one of the hardest challenges for many young people across the country. Statistics show that one of the biggest issues that businesses have with sick leave, relates to stress, which is often caused by a heavy workload and issues with anxiety.

One of the new employees that arrived at SW Business Support Solutions had major issues with anxiety, that they were able to overcome due to a brilliant support system. When the employee arrived on their first day, they had a severe panic attack. This panic attack left them with the feeling that they would never be able to return to work.

To help the employee adjust, the company gave them the right support and directed them for medical help. Since starting, they haven’t had a day off due to illness, while showing dedication to completing their tasks. Along with this they have excelled at their job and have become a valued asset to the company.
