Precision dredging in one of Devon’s most sensitive estuaries.

At Newton Ferrers, TMS delivered a dredging and remediation project within the River Yealm Estuary, removing 340mΒ³ of contaminated sediment under strict MMO Marine Licence conditions.

The challenge went beyond dredging. Tide-restricted working windows, severe winter weather and a live 600mm sewer main beneath the dredge zone demanded precise control.

Using 3D GPS-guided excavation, continuous survey verification and carefully coordinated barge operations, our team delivered the required remediation while protecting the buried asset.

The result: zero environmental or safety incidents and full compliance throughout.

Replacing heavy marine fenders on a busy working wharf called for a safer, more efficient approach.

TMS was appointed by the Port of London Authority to replace large hardwood fenders at Denton Wharf in Kent. Each fender weighed nearly half a tonne, making craneage essential.

Rather than using a second crane with a man-riding basket, our trained engineer abseilers trained in rope access, worked independently alongside the crane team.
Careful sequencing allowed each fender to be positioned, fixed and completed while the crane moved ahead to the next location.

The result: a safe, efficient two-day programme, minimal disruption and Denton Wharf returned to full operational capacity.

Our specialist Difficult Access Team delivers fast, low-disruption solutions for ports, harbours and coastal asset owners.

A complex marine operation captured in the timelapse.
As part of our demobilisation from the Rubble Jetty works in Plymouth, the TMS team swapped the legs on our jack-up barge at Victoria Wharf.

The barge had been configured specifically for the water depths required during the installation of steel tubular fender piles using a sand socket system. With those works complete, the legs were swapped back ahead of the final activities and demobilisation.

The operation required careful planning and specialist support from Macsalvors and Cattewater Harbour Commissioners to complete safely and efficiently.

A strong example of coordination across our team and specialist partners.

A great example of teams and resources working together across our marine projects.

Last week, our Rubble Jetty Team completed the removal of the temporary linkspan at Mount Batten, using the jack-up barge already mobilised nearby.
The temporary pontoon system had played an important role during the wider works, helping maintain ferry operations while the new pontoon system was installed.

With the new pontoons now complete, open and in use, the temporary system had done its job and could be removed.

Silent. Sustainable. Specialist.
For the past two months, TMS Divers have been working on the River Thames with one clear objective: deliver critical underwater engineering while minimising disruption to the surrounding community.

By operating our video, lighting and communications systems entirely on battery power, alongside HP air for the diver, we created a virtually silent dive site with zero on-site carbon emissions. Residents experienced minimal noise, while the project maintained the high safety and operational standards our clients expect.

What sets TMS apart is our in-house capability. Our HSE-registered dive teams include underwater cutters, coded welders and trained CARDOX personnel, enabling us to deliver underwater engineering, construction, maintenance and survey works without relying on subcontractors.

Investing in quieter, lower-carbon solutions is another way we're improving how marine projects are delivered, without compromising performance.
