When Comfort Becomes the New Luxury.
In the past three months, I’ve stayed in hotels from Bali to London to the American South — and I’ve noticed a real shift.
Luxury hotels are now leaning into home comforts. Squishy sofas. Familiar scents. Spaces that whisper “relax, you’re safe here.”
Meanwhile, our homes are going in the opposite direction — all crisp lines, curated cushions, and “don’t touch that” décor.
It made me think… maybe true hospitality isn’t about where we are but how we make people feel there.*
✨ For hotels: don’t go so “laid-back luxury” that you lose the magic in the details.
✨ For homes: don’t design yourself into a showroom where you’re afraid to spill coffee.
Space matters — whether we’re living in it, passing through it, or finding ourselves in it. And getting it right is an art.
That’s what I love most about hospitality — it’s emotion, atmosphere, and intention all rolled into one.
