After 30 years in corporate finance, I walked away to do something that actually matters. Here's why I started Purple Squirrel...

For three decades, I sat in boardrooms with some of the biggest names in manufacturing and aerospace — writing policies, building KPI frameworks, stepping in as Interim Finance Director when businesses needed steadying. I worked across the UK, Europe and North America. I was good at what I did. But somewhere along the way, I started asking myself: who is all this actually helping?

The answer was almost always: a faceless organisation that didn't need my help anywhere near as much as the person down the road trying to run their small business without a clue what their P&L was telling them.

So I left.

I started Purple Squirrel because I genuinely believe that financial clarity changes everything for a small business. Not the corporate jargon version — the real, plain-English version that helps you make confident decisions, stop losing sleep over your numbers, and actually enjoy running the business you built.
