Never a dull moment, just finished teaching a 2 day First Aid at Work refresher course today at The Training Society www.thetrainingsociety.co.uk and on my way home . . .
Man on his back on the pavement in Derby with a small crowd. Pull over and introduce myself. Turns out we now have a nurse, a doctor, a child care lady and me. Facial injuries following a trip and fall.
I'm the only one in a vehicle so out with the First Aid kit, gloves and wipes provided to the nurse, casualty assessed. Someone has already called an ambulance but they're quoting 2 hours so we reach the decision the casualty is safe to transport in a car and agree this with him.
Down to the Derby Urgent Care unit on Osmaston Road and casualty escorted to reception, then a chair.
My thanks to everyone who stopped and offered help - real team effort and it was great to see so many kind people.
It may be called 'First Aid at Work' - but you don't have to be at work to use it.
