It's hard to believe we're already halfway through October. The businesses that make the most of November and December usually plan now, not at the last minute.

We're already printing wall planners, calendars and Christmas cards for clients who are getting organised early. They're making sure their branding is in front of customers before the festive rush begins, and you could be too.

Ordering now gives you all of November to distribute your marketing materials in time for December. Whether it's calendars, wall planners, Christmas cards, brochures, flyers, promotional merchandise or corporate gifts, getting your items out early gives them more time to make an impact.

Now is also a great time to think about:

• Christmas promotions and seasonal offers
• Corporate gifts for customers and employees
• Branded bags and packaging
• Promotional merchandise
• Brochures and flyers for year-end campaigns
• Marketing materials for January events and exhibitions

The last few months of the year can pass by surprisingly quickly. A little planning now can help you stay ahead of the competition and start 2027 on the front foot.

What marketing projects are still on your to-do list before the year is out? We'd love to hear what you're working on.

Make your brochures impossible to ignore. In a digital world, a brochure gives people something they can actually hold, browse and come back to. But the most effective brochures do more than simply share information. They create an experience.

If you're investing in brochures, think beyond standard folds and plain paper. Small design and print enhancements can make a huge difference to how your brand is perceived.

Consider:

• Unusual folding styles such as gate folds, roll folds or zig-zag folds to reveal information in a more engaging way.

• Premium paper stocks that feel substantial and reinforce quality.

• Soft-touch lamination for a luxurious, velvety finish that people instinctively want to pick up.

• Spot UV varnish to highlight logos, images or key messages with a striking contrast.

• Die-cut shapes that break away from the standard rectangular format and demand attention.

• Interactive elements such as inserts, pockets, samples or QR codes linking to videos and online content.

A brochure isn't just a source of information. It's a reflection of your brand. The right finish, texture and format can transform it from something that's glanced at once into something that's remembered.

Whether you need a simple folded leaflet or a high-impact brochure packed with creative finishes, we'll help you find the perfect combination of design, print and materials to make your message stand out.

Because great brochures don't just tell people about your business. They help people remember it.

As Christmas approaches, many businesses are planning how to thank clients, reward staff, and strengthen relationships with thoughtful corporate gifts. While the gift itself is important, don't overlook the impact of the presentation.

Branded bags are a simple yet highly effective way to elevate your corporate gifting. They create a professional first impression, add perceived value to the gift inside, and ensure your brand is seen long after the festive season has ended.

Whether you're handing out luxury gift hampers, branded merchandise, festive treats, diaries, calendars, or thank-you gifts, a professionally printed bag turns every recipient into a walking advertisement for your business. As bags are carried from the office to the car, taken home, and often reused, your logo and message continue to gain exposure well beyond the initial handover.

Christmas is also a busy time for networking events, client meetings, and staff celebrations. Branded bags provide a practical and attractive way to present gifts while reinforcing your company's professionalism and attention to detail.

From small runs for exclusive client gifting to larger quantities for company-wide campaigns, branded bags are a cost-effective marketing tool that combines practicality with brand awareness.

This festive season, don't just give a gift. Give your brand an opportunity to be remembered.

In a digital world, it's easy to forget that business is still built on relationships. Whether it's a business card handed over at the right moment, a brochure that starts a conversation, or a face-to-face introduction that leads to a new opportunity, personal connections matter.

That's one of the reasons Essential Print Services is proud to be a supplier, supporter and sponsor of Derby Rugby Football Club.

The company helps businesses make a strong first impression through print, but meaningful business relationships are built through conversation. That's why Yvonne Gorman, founder of Essential Print Services, volunteers her time to organise and host the Derby Rugby Business Club, helping bring local professionals together in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

The feedback from the launch event speaks for itself:

"One of the best networking events I have attended in a long time."
Maria Hanson MBE, me&dee charity

"I met some really useful contacts, but more importantly, I was made to feel super welcome." - Sophie.

"A great mix of local businesses. The format encouraged meaningful conversations and made it easy to connect with people." Lucy.

One attendee simply commented that they had "never experienced such a warm welcome" at a networking event.

If you're looking to grow your network, raise your profile and meet local business owners and decision-makers in a relaxed, friendly setting, the next Derby Rugby Business Club is a great place to start.

At our heart, we're passionate about helping businesses make an impact, regardless of the size of the order. That's why a single roller banner receives the same level of care, attention, and expertise as 1,000 flyers or 2,000 presentation folders.

We know that "small" jobs often have a big purpose. That one roller banner might be representing your business at an important exhibition. Those 250 business cards could be helping you make valuable new connections. A short run of brochures might be supporting a crucial sales meeting. Every print project plays a part in your success, and that's why every order matters to us.

Of course, we're equally equipped to handle larger projects too. Whether it's thousands of flyers for a marketing campaign, bulk presentation folders for a corporate event, branded stationery, brochures, signage, or large-format displays, our team has the experience and capability to deliver quality results on time and on budget.

From modest to massive, our commitment never changes. You can expect the same friendly service, expert advice, attention to detail, and high-quality print, no matter the size of your order.

Whether you need one roller banner, 1,000 flyers, 2,000 folders, or anything in between, we're here to help bring your vision to life.

Get in touch today and discover why businesses trust us with all their print needs.

Do Business Cards Still Matter? At almost every networking event I attend, someone asks the same question: "Do people still use business cards?"

My answer is always yes.

In a world of LinkedIn connections, QR codes and smartphones, a business card remains one of the simplest and most effective networking tools you can carry.

A good business card:

Makes it easy for people to remember you

Gives prospects a tangible reminder of your conversation

Reinforces your brand and professionalism

Saves people searching for your details later

Creates opportunities long after the event has ended

The reality is that many networking conversations happen over lunch, coffee or a busy room full of people. Not everyone wants to stop and exchange LinkedIn details there and then.

A business card bridges that gap.

The best networking doesn't happen in the room. It happens afterwards. A well-designed business card helps ensure you're remembered when that follow-up email, phone call or referral opportunity comes along.

So before your next networking event, check: Have you got enough business cards?

Your Christmas Marketing Starts Now!

Can you believe it? There are just 12 weeks until Christmas.

For many businesses, the final quarter of the year is one of the busiest. The weeks seem to fly by, which is why now is the perfect time to start thinking ahead.

Have you considered:

Christmas cards for clients and suppliers?

Promotional gifts to keep your business front of mind?

Flyers, brochures or posters for seasonal promotions?

Branded packaging, stickers or gift vouchers?

Marketing materials for autumn and winter events?

A little planning now can save a lot of stress later.

Before the festive rush begins, take a few minutes to review your marketing materials and make sure you're ready for the months ahead.

What is the first thing your business starts planning for at Christmas?

October is a busy month for many businesses. Summer is behind us, Christmas is getting closer and now is the perfect time to make sure your marketing materials are ready for the final quarter of the year.

Three printed products that are particularly useful at this time of year are:

Brochures
Perfect for showcasing your products and services in more detail. Whether you're meeting clients, attending events or planning year-end campaigns, brochures help tell your story and build credibility.

Roller Banners
With autumn events, exhibitions and networking opportunities in full swing, roller banners help you stand out and look professional. They're easy to transport, simple to set up and can be reused time and time again.

Presentation Folders
Ideal for proposals, quotations, welcome packs and sales presentations. A well-designed folder keeps documents organised, reinforces your branding and helps create a professional first impression.

A little planning now can make a big difference in the run-up to Christmas.

If you're reviewing your marketing materials this month, we'd be delighted to help.

With September coming to an end, now is the perfect time for businesses to take a step back and review their marketing before the year disappears in a blur of Christmas preparations and year-end deadlines.

Ask yourself:

Which marketing activities generated enquiries?

Which printed materials did you use the most?

Did your business cards, brochures, flyers or banners help start conversations?

Which campaigns delivered results, and which ones fell a little flat?

Now is also a great time to plan ahead.

If you know you'll need Christmas cards, promotional gifts, event materials, brochures or fresh marketing collateral before the end of the year, getting organised now will save stress later.

The most successful marketing isn't always about doing more. Sometimes it's about reviewing what's already worked and doing more of that.

So before September disappears, take 15 minutes to reflect, review and plan.

Your future self will thank you.

If you're planning your marketing materials for the final few months of the year, we'd be happy to help.

We're delighted to have played a small part in helping bring Lara Croft home.

As a proud Derby business, supporting this campaign was an easy decision.

Lara Croft is more than a global gaming icon. She's part of Derby's story and a reminder of the creativity, innovation and talent that has come from our city.

The successful fundraising campaign saw supporters from around the world come together to ensure the statue returned to Derby, and it's fantastic to see the project become a reality.

With Lara returning to Derby Market Hall as part of the 30th anniversary celebrations, the statue will help tell the story of how one of the world's most famous video game characters was created right here in Derby.

Congratulations to Luke Earle and everyone involved in making this happen. Essential Print Services is proud to have supported bringing a little piece of Derby history home.
