Last week, a Brighton landlord was fined over £11,000 for breaching fire safety legislation. Here's what went wrong...

At the landlord's property, several fire risk assessments were conducted. The fire hazard findings included:

🔥Combustible items stored incorrectly in the property
🔥A faulty kitchen door found propped open
🔥An unsecured and unprotected electrical intake cupboard
🔥A mattress obstructing the ground floor escape route
🔥Multiple missing and faulty fire detection equipment

Each of these findings breached the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, compromising the landlord's compliance and their tenants' safety.

Rebekah joined the OHEAP Fire and Security team last year. Since then, she has taken on projects of all sizes, consistently being a role model to her peers and delivering excellent service. It is no surprise, then, that Rebekah has been shortlisted for the Excellence Awards (Fire Engineering)!
