We’re a friendly firm of Xero bookkeepers who work with small business owners to help them manage their finances. We’ve built up a successful practice over the past ten years, currently serving nearly fifty clients of varying sizes, and we’re now looking to expand our team by taking on an experienced bookkeeper. We’re particularly keen to speak to bookkeepers with an interest in cloud accounting, automation and apps.
You will be based in our office in Derby, but once qualified you may spend some time working in clients’ offices, which are all local. There will also be scope for flexible working and working from home. Because we’re a small team, you’ll need to be happy pitching in with whatever needs doing around the office.
Key responsibilities:
Processing clients’ paperwork, primarily using cloud-based software and apps
Bank and control account reconciliations
Processing VAT returns
Helping clients to understand their finances through bespoke training and on-demand phone and email advice
Assisting with research and implementation of apps
Developing systems to streamline and improve the way we work
There may also be scope to work on payroll, tax returns and pensions administration
You must have experience of the following:
Bookkeeping to trial balance
Preparation of VAT returns
It would be useful, but not essential, if you also had experience of the following:
Xero and Dext
Setup and management of apps in the Xero ecosystem
Key attributes:
A friendly, approachable disposition
Excellent communication and numeracy
Great problem-solving abilities
Attention to detail
Willingness to learn new skills
Ability to work on your own initiative
Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
This job would suit an experienced bookkeeper looking to move to a practice in which they can build their expertise in cloud accounting and apps, and who would relish working in a small team, with the freedom to develop a role that works well for them and the business.
This is a full-time position. Office hours are 8.30 to 5, Monday to Friday.
Salary range: £20,000 - £24,000 depending on experience and skills.
The closing date for applications is Friday September 17th, followed by technical interviews on Zoom, and a recruitment morning on Sunday September 26th.
