I’m reminded of the power of friendship when I look at this photo.

You may have noticed, I’ve been a little quiet lately, mostly because, sadly, my Nanna passed away a few weeks ago after a period of being very unwell and I’ve simply not had the head space to work full time, honour existing photography jobs, grieve and take care of social media! So social media’s had to take a backseat for a while!

I photographed this wedding not long after Nanna passed and this moment just made me feel so happy to see the clear bond between these two young ladies who will likely go on to support each other as true friends through thick and thin.

So happy I got this for the bride (mum) and it’s a snapshot of a memory I hope they will cherish forever.

When people look shocked at how much professional photography costs…

Just remember - camera’s cost an absolutely fortune. Lens’ cost a fortune and they both have a lifespan so they need replacing every 5 years (if you’re lucky).

Creative suite, subscriptions for your website, maintenance of your kit, gallery hosts etc. all cost… not to mention a graphics card capable computer of some sort to cope with high resolution images.

Travel to and from your photoshoot, backdrops, lights, props all need refreshing regularly to meet trends.

Insurance, SD cards, gift cards, charitable raffle prize donations, paid targeted marketing costs, missed hours with friends and family whilst you spend hours shooting and editing… Don’t even get me started on tax!!

Part time photographer’s don’t do this for the money - we do it for the love of it.

Small businesses are something special and they should be protected, nurtured and invested in as much as possible!
