We are back again!

RammSanderson are thrilled to be sponsoring the East Midlands Bricks Awards for the 2023, backing Contractor of the Year, for the second year in a row.

We pride ourselves in working closely with our clients and their team of consultants and contractors to deliver projects that run smoothly and achieve valuable environmental and ecological gains.

By sponsoring this award we want to celebrate the contractors who go above and beyond the word of the contract to deliver a truly exceptional service.

We are excited to see what the nominees have accomplished, to celebrate their achievements and get the chance to network with property and construction professionals from across the region at the Bricks 2023.

With the East Midlands Bricks Awards 2023 set to take place next week (28 September), there's not long left to secure your seat at the event.

Congratulations to Chloe Newberry and Maisie Ryan on becoming qualified MoRPH surveyors!
MoRPH stands for Modular River Physical, and is a survey method we use to assess a river's condition, which feeds into the biodiversity net gain metric. This enables the calculation of biodiversity net gain on-site to aid in delivering a 10% net gain, which will be mandatory as of November 2023.

We are so proud to share that our team have smashed the additional target of 60 million steps from April- September to raise money and awareness for Mind UK!

Thank you to Paul Barry at Phenna Group for raising the bar on this challenge and encouraging our team to get outside and walk!

The 2014 survey of Mental Health and Wellbeing in England found that 1 in 6 people aged 16+ had experienced symptoms of a common mental health problem, such as depression or anxiety, in any given week (https://buff.ly/40RbNDO). However, it is understood that the actual number is probably much higher. Every single one of us is impacted in some way by mental health at some point in our lives or will love someone who is struggling.

Mind are a brilliant charity offering support through information, advice and local services.

At the beginning of our ecology survey season in April, we pledged to walk 55.98 million steps collectively to raise money for our charity of the year- Mind.

Today, we have smashed that target! With a few more team members joining the challenge, and a great push from the team to meet the target we have done it with 18 days to spare.

However the challenge doesn't end here! Paul Barry, CEO of Phennagroup challenged us to round up our target to 60 million steps by the end of the month, pledging a generous donation of £5k if we succeed!

Tomorrow, members of the RammSanderson team are setting out on the 3 Peaks Challenge, climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) in 24 hours! We will be posting live updates regularly so you can follow their progress. If you'd like to sponsor the team and help support Mind UK, please visit the gofundme page.

We are so proud of our team so far, let's keep up the good work and raise some money for a great cause!

T-minus two days until we undertake the national three peak challenge to raise money for Mind- our charity of the year.

If you're not familiar with the challenge this involves climbing the highest peaks of England, Scotland and Wales within 24 hours.

The team will aim to climb a total of 2957m in elevation, over 26 miles. An estimated 50333 steps each! This should take a nice chunk out of our step challenge target for this year.

The team have been hard at work preparing for this momentous challenge, all that is left to do is hope the weather stays on our side and we can smash it!

Stay tuned for live updates over the coming days- we travel to Ben Nevis on Thursday, followed by Scafell Pike and finishing with Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) on Friday.

Wish us luck! If you'd like to donate to a great cause and help motivate our team to smash this challenge visit our gofundme page here:

RammSanderson have recently provided our team with an internal training programme delivered by Matt Cook of B.A.T ecological and Morgan Hughes. So far we have had the benefit of lectures about bat ecology, legislation and surveying and two field visits to check bat boxes and undertake ground level preliminary roost assessments on trees. We have been able to practice torching and endoscoping, aiding in our development and progression towards securing and upgrading Natural England Bat Survey licenses. During these sessions we were lucky enough to observe this Whiskered bat roosting in a tree on our second field visit. We have more training sessions scheduled throughout the season so watch this space.

RammSanderson are pledging to walk 55.98 million steps collectively between April and September to raise money for .

Last Autumn, RammSanderson walked 10 million steps in one month to raise funds for Cancer Research UK. This year, we are aiming to smash this achievement and collectively walk 55.98 million steps during our ecology survey season (April to September) to raise funds for Mind UK and fight stigma surrounding mental health!

So we have chosen to take a step for every person in England, bringing our target to 55.98 million steps between April and September.

It is also well known that physical exercise is beneficial for our mental health. So why not join us in taking steps to break down mental health stigma?!

We kicked off this challenge with a bang on Saturday, with the team taking on a 15 mile hike in the peak district. That's 394,524 steps ticked off our target so far. Bring it on!

A job well done by one of our bat licenced senior ecologists, Katie Sykes, last week. Katie was undertaking an ecological watching brief as an accredited agent on a bat mitigation licence, to supervise the stripping of an old barn roof. During which she came across this common pipistrelle! The bat had woken up from hibernation due to the warmer spell of weather and Katie was able to successfully translocate it to a nearby bat box away from the works area, so that the works could continue.

A good result all round- well done Katie!

The bat survey season is right around the corner and we are already getting booked up for bat surveys so if you are working on a development that might impact bats get in touch now to get your surveys booked in!

Join us at RammSanderson in celebrating World Wildlife Day, a day to shine a light on the beautiful array of wildlife we share our home with, near and far. It has never been more important to consider wildlife in everything we do, in order to conserve the species that keep our ecosystems ticking. We are proud to play our part in conserving nature and British wildlife and want to take this opportunity to celebrate the wildlife we encounter whilst doing our daily jobs. Here's a few photos our team have taken this past year whilst out and about enjoying British wildlife!
