GLUTEN FREE B**R: PROCESS vs PROOF
“We don't believe testing one b**r proves every b**r a brewery produces is gluten free. That's why, where we sell b**rs as Gluten Free, we ask for evidence relating to the individual products — not simply evidence that the brewery's process has worked on another b**r.”
“WE TESTED THE B**R.”
At B**r Metropolis, if we're selling a b**r as Gluten Free, we want evidence behind that claim.
A Gluten Free b**r in the UK must contain no more than 20ppm of gluten.
Brewing isn't completely static.
Different malts and ingredients can be used. Recipes can change. Raw materials vary. Production conditions change. And there's always the potential for cross-contact.
So relying purely on a process that worked previously isn't the standard we're comfortable with.
🔬 OUR APPROACH
For the Gluten Free b**rs we buy and sell, we ask breweries for evidence of appropriate independent laboratory testing.
Where breweries also carry out in-house testing on individual batches throughout the year, that's another useful check that the process continues to perform as expected.
Because ultimately:
PROCESS GIVES YOU CONFIDENCE.
TESTING GIVES YOU EVIDENCE.
And when somebody is choosing Gluten Free b**r because they have coeliac disease, we think that distinction matters.
If it says Gluten Free, there should be evidence behind it.
