The existing protective coatings on the pressure vessel had reached the end of their service life, resulting in visible pitting, laminate corrosion and reduced long-term corrosion protection.
Because the vessel is in an area with active chemical processes, the steelwork had become contaminated with chemical salts, increasing environmental corrosivity and accelerating deterioration.

To maintain safe operation and prevent further structural degradation, the client required a complete replacement industrial protective coating system engineered for harsh, high-corrosivity environments. READ THE FULL CASE STUDY BELOW

Upon opening the anaerobic digester to remove grit our client found that the existing tank lining was in a very poor condition, with extensive blistering and breaks that had allowed the concrete to be attacked and degraded because of exposure to hydrogen sulphide/biogenic sulphuric acid.

The Anaerobic Digester had previously been lined internally with a membrane system that extended over the top of the tank walls. Unfortunately Hydrogen Sulphide rich gas had been able to enter beneath this membrane, allowing biogenic sulphuric acid to form beneath resulting in attack and degradation of the tank structure.
