This World Mental Health Day, let’s talk, listen and support better mental health together.

Sometimes the most important thing we can do for someone’s wellbeing is simply take the time to listen.

A chat over a cuppa. A walk outdoors. A friendly face. A regular check-in.

At Help at Home Scotland, we know that meaningful conversations and genuine connections can make a real difference. Many of the people we support tell us that having someone who listens, encourages and takes an interest in their life helps them feel more connected, confident and valued.

This year’s theme is “Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change”.

Today, why not take a few minutes to check in on someone you care about?

💜 Helping people live well, their way.

Eating Well for Strength and Independence

Did you know eating well is an important part of preventing falls?

As we get older, its natural to lose some muscle strength. This can make everyday activities more difficult and increase the risk of falls and frailty.

A healthy, balanced diet with enough protein, calories and key nutrients such as calcium and vitamin D can help maintain strength, support mobility and keep us independent for longer.

At Help at Home Scotland, we can support people to:
✅ Plan healthy meals
✅ Shop for ingredients
✅ Prepare and cook favourite meals
✅ Enjoy home-cooked food at times that suit them
✅ Stay hydrated

Sometimes its not just about having food available. Its about helping people continue to enjoy the meals they love and remain involved in preparing them.

Helping you live well, your way.

Confidence Matters Too.

Have you ever stopped doing something because you were worried about falling?

Many people lose confidence after a fall or near miss.Fear of falling can sometimes have a bigger impact than the fall itself.

Unfortunately, doing less can often lead to:
• Reduced strength
• Reduced balance
• Less confidence
• Greater risk of future falls

Taking small steps to stay active can make a big difference.

At Help at Home Scotland, we can provide companionship and support to help people regain confidence getting outdoors, returning to activities and reconnecting with their
community.

Helping you live well, your way.

Every Movement Counts

You do not need to join a gym to reduce your risk of falls.

Walking the dog.
Gardening.

It all counts.

Small amounts of movement can help improve:
✅ Strength
✅ Balance
✅ Confidence
✅ Independence

At Help at Home Scotland, we support people to stay active in ways that work for them, whether thats an accompanied walk, tending to their garden or getting out and about in the community.

Remember, every movement counts.
