If you're registered with a GP in Doncaster or Derbyshire, you likely already have access to this free service and you may not even know it.

Both our practices offer NHS-funded appointments for eye problems that have come on recently. A red, sore or painful eye, something that feels stuck in there, sticky discharge, new flashes or floaters, or a sudden change in your vision. The appointment is free and you don't need a referral from anyone.

This is a separate NHS service commissioned area by area, which is why it goes by two different names. If your GP is in Doncaster it's called MECS. If your GP is in Derby or Derbyshire it's called CUES.

Anything you're unsure about, give us a call and tell us what's going on. We'll be happy to help.

Murgatroyd Opticians Staveley is open as usual today Saturday 29th August 9am to 12noon.

Eye examinations, spectacle adjustments, collections & repairs are now available to book online at

We then close at 12noon and reopen Wednesday 2nd September at 9am, wishing all our patients a happy bank holiday weekend.
