We appreciate that life can be tough as a young person, dealing with pressure from school, home and friendship groups and sometimes just feeling like no one understands you. Sometimes you may feel lost and wonder what to do or wonder were to go and who you can talk too? If you feel like you want someone to understand and care, we want you to know your school nurse is there! It’s impossible to list

all the things we can help with here but we have summarised some of the key problems we support young people with on a regular basis. Please remember no problem is too small and we are happy to answer any questions you may have.

•Keeping Healthy (physical , emotionally and sexually)
•Immunisations
•Emotional Health ( dealing with life’s “ups and downs” including problems with relationships, friendships, bullying, self-harm and eating disorders)
•Weight Management
•Sexual Health
•Drugs and Alcohol
•Smoking

This wee we start to see the steady return of children & young people returning to school.
Like every year our School Nursing Team will be busy this first term meeting with schools and discussing the different health promotion topics they can offer to schools.
Last year 247 sessions was delivered reaching over 12,000 children and young people!

So a HUGE thanks to all the schools, partners and families across Doncaster for working with our School Nursing and we look forward to working with you all again this year!

It's that time of year again where parents are getting ready to send the kids back to school. However, going back to school for some children and young people can be a bigger worry than what us adults think.

Is your child struggling to sleep?
Do they need more reassurance?
Are they struggling with things they would normally manage?

Going back to school isn't just about "getting back to normal", it's not about "getting to see your friends", it isn't just about moving up a year or moving onto secondary school.

Let's think about the changes that are happening from a child/young person's perspective.

A new teacher
A new classroom
Not forgetting the unimportant things… where you hang your coat, which toilet you use, where you line up, what time is lunch.....all these things matter!

The aim isn't to make a child/ young person be "ready for back to school" in the way ‘we’ think they should, but to identify what makes them feel secure and helps them to feel safe.

This is an instant messaging service for young people to make contact with a member of the school nursing service.
So if you attend school, college, alternative provision, not in education or are home educated and you want to speak to a member of the team about your health, you can book a time slot that is convenient to you via the eClinic app.
