What an amazing day!
Today I delivered my very first college talk at Doncaster College.

I spoke to around 20 students from both the Animal Care and Business courses about the real life of a professional pet sitter.

The highs, the lows, the responsibilities, and what it really takes to run this as a proper business.

The students were brilliant, engaged for the full hour and even asked some great questions (which Daz said really surprised him!).

A huge thank you to Darren (Daz) for organising everything, believing in the talk, and bringing both groups of students together. I really enjoyed chatting with you and can’t thank you enough for this opportunity.

No Facebook. No Instagram. No online groups. Just a pile of flyers, a pair of very tired feet, and an absolute determination to make it work.

When I started pet sitting 18 years ago, nobody knew what a pet sitter even was so getting the word out meant doing it the old-fashioned way. New build estates with nice cars and nice holidays? That meant nice pets and potential clients.

So off I went, letterbox by letterbox, blister by blister.

Craft fairs, shop windows, the local vet... if there was a wall or a counter, I found a way to get a business card on it.

In this THIRD video of my 9-part series, I share exactly how I built my client base from nothing, and why those slow, unglamorous early days were actually the foundation of everything my pet sitting business became.

Because here's the truth — clients lead to reviews, and reviews lead to more clients. You just have to survive long enough to get the first ones. 🐾

That's a whole different skill and nobody taught me how.
