Are you looking for a dog walker in the Dorchester area?

I currently have one space available in my Pack dog walking group on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday mornings.

Your dog would need to be a minimum of 12 months, spayed/neutered, understand the basic commands and be good with other dogs.

Walking Your Dog When It's Hot!

A word of caution to all dog owners. There have been an increasing number of sad reports trickling through my news feeds of dogs dying as a result of the recent hot weather we're having. Dehydration in dogs is a common killer, so, I thought it might be helpful to give you a few of my top tips to help keep Fido cool, and more importantly, safe:

1. Only walk your dog during the coolest times of the day.

2. Keep to shaded areas, preferably near water (nb: be careful walking by the sea - saltwater can be ingested unknowingly and cause severe dehydration!)

3. Keep walks short. If you're feeling the heat then you can bet he's feeling it more!

4. Always carry a water bottle!

5. Avoid pavements because hot pavements can burn paws!

6. Don't leave your dog in the car!

7. Repeat! Don't leave your dog in the car!!

8. Put out a sprinkler or paddling pool in your garden for your dog to cool off in.

9. Don't let your dog sunbathe! Some dogs need to be saved from themselves!

10. Invest in a cooling jacket (available from Pets at Home) or cover your dog in wet towels.

11. Put a couple of ice cubes in their water bowl.

12. And finally...if you can't walk your dog first or last thing when it's cool, then bring their exercise indoors and give them some mentally stimulating doggy games to play which will challenge them and prevent boredom.
