Cycle touring
Your tour starts on a Friday morning at Royal Tunbridge Wells train station just South of London. Here, you will be met by Alex Baines-Buffery, Wine Rides Director and given your bike for the weekend. Each day, your luggage will be transported ahead to the final destination. On your first day, Alex will offer a guided cycle tour from the station to our first vineyard. For the remai
nder of the weekend, you will be given a Wine Rides guidebook, including maps, directions and highlighting the best pubs, natural beauty spots and other vineyards en route. There will be a maximum of 20 cyclists on the tour, and you are free to plan your own route or cycle with the group. Food and wine
You will be provided with a picnic lunch on your first day. On the remaining two cycling days, we will recommend lunch stops and each morning, we will send you on your way with water and a few homemade snacks to keep you going. At the end of the day on arrival at the vineyard, the owners will conduct a wine tasting, and a tour of their facilities. This is included in the price and you will have the opportunity to purchase your favourite bottles. Each night, the group dinner, shared with your fellow cyclists, is a rustic, local and seasonal menu. After dinner you can stay up and enjoy a drink with the others or just crash in the comfortable bed that awaits you. Camping
Your two overnight stays will be at Sedlescombe and Carr Taylor vineyards. Here, a tented village will be waiting your arrival, set up exclusively for Wine Rides. Each couple will sleep in their own tent with a double air bed and bedding provided. Shower and toilet tents are shared
A hot breakfast of porridge or a bacon roll, tea and coffee will be brought to your tent each morning. Whilst this is “proper camping”, we will ensure that you are warm, dry and well fed.
