Tomorrow is International Safe Places to work day - but it’s not just physical safety they’re celebrating!

👉 This day is about recognising organisations and individuals that eliminate fear and champion psychological safety in the workplace.

So if you’re dedicated to fostering a sense of belonging and ensuring you’re dedicated to your employees’ needs, this day is about you.

We’re passionate about it because we help businesses create a sense of psychological safety for their disabled and neurodiverse employees. 🙏

Because providing accommodations and reasonable adjustments goes beyond making it physically possible to do their jobs.

If you’re making the effort to support them in the ways that count, it shows that you actually value them and provides them with a sense of security within your business.

Promoting psychological safety starts with listening to their needs and finding ways to meet them effectively!

What does psychological safety mean for you in your work? 👇

A lot of people are getting ADHD diagnoses in their adulthood, when it could have been spotted sooner.

This is especially prevalent for women!

There’s a disproportionate amount of late diagnoses for women, for many reasons.

🔹Masking

🔹‘Hard to spot’ symptoms

🔹Better understanding of different presentations and how they may present in women particularly and adults in general.

This is also the case for Autism Spectrum Conditions, meaning that there’s a lot of adult women realising now that they’re on the spectrum, and seeking help later than their male counterparts.

This is one of the reasons we’re proud to offer diagnostic screening and support recommendations for:

👉ADHD

👉Autism

This service sits alongside our existing diagnostic assessments for SpLDs allowing us to build a clear picture of co-occurring complexity:

👉Dyscalculia

👉Dyslexia

👉Dyspraxia

Getting clarity on your needs opens so many doors. It truly changes lives.

It gives you the opportunity to find the right kind of support to manage your symptoms and vastly improves wellbeing and happiness at work.

You need to be giving your team the opportunity to learn and develop.

It benefits them, but it also benefits your business.

You’re building a bridge between their overarching goals and their job. It’s how you boost retention.

Another crucial step for creating those bridges:

A thorough workplace assessment that aligns performance metrics with overarching goals.

👉 This provides a shared understanding of expectations

👉 Fosters a sense of purpose

👉 Facilitates effective communication

AND gives employees clarity on their roles, responsibilities, and performance targets - making it easier for them to prioritise tasks and make informed decisions.

Their personal development is also professional development. It contributes to the success of your business.

How are you ensuring you’re keeping your employees aligned and motivated?

If there’s 1 reason why you should care so much about building a more neuroinclusive business - it’s this:

Rehiring and retraining are expensive. 💰💰💰

Replacing great employees that have left because they didn’t feel supported is a major cost to your business.

Financially, reputationally, and from a productivity perspective.

👉 Identifying the unique and varying needs of your employees

👉 Providing them with the correct support

👉 Integrating assistive technology into your business

👉 Ensuring that they feel valued

These are all things that are going to improve employee retention, especially if members of your team are neurodivergent.

As an employer, it’s your responsibility to ensure everyone has the capacity to thrive at work. 🙌

It might feel like there’s no help or no support out there for you as a newly diagnosed neurodiverse person.

You have to head back into work without a clue what that really means for you. 🤔

💡 Not just the support available to you, but also what you would actually benefit from and what your needs are.

It’s a lot to process, and your workplace might not yet be fully equipped to help you with that.

We are by your side. 🤝

With a full workplace needs assessment, we can identify the areas that you’re struggling and suggest tools that you’ll benefit from based on that.

We provide cutting edge assistive technology from a range of different partners who are working to create more inclusive workplaces through tech.

WHAT PEOPLE WITH DYSLEXIA WANT:

✅ Trust.

✅ Patience.

✅ Encouragement.

✅ To have their strengths valued.

✅ To be allowed to learn in a way that suits them.

WHAT PEOPLE WITH DYSLEXIA DON’T WANT:

❌ One-size-fits-all solutions that don’t take their individual needs into account.

❌ To be treated unequally. They are different, not less.

❌ To be mocked for their mistakes.

❌ To be expected to do things in a way that suits everybody else (non-dyslexic people).

Dyslexic friends, what would you add?

We will be featured at the Dyslexia Show 2024!

We’re talking about the importance of workplace inclusion for neurodiverse team members, as well as how employers can facilitate better environments for everyone.
