The second at Flamborough Bird Observatory, my Turtle Dove talk in the evening to kick off their migweek event YWT Living Seas Flamborough Bird Observatory. A great turn out at both with over 100 people combined. Looking forward to seeing you all again in the future

Yesterday I was very pleased to take the winner of our Doodle a Dove competition, Professional artist category for her winning VIP Turtle Dove tour in North Yorkshire. We visited three forest areas heard five different singing Turtle Doves and ended with fabulous views of this bird near Scarborough. A lovely morning.

What a grand turn out this morning for my Bird Sound Safari walk Tophill Low Nature Reserve it was a huge pleasure to introduce so many visitors to the wonders of bird sounds. On the two walks we heard 20 species inc Goldcrest, Blackcap, Cettis Warbler, Long-tailed T**s and a Kingfisher! Thanks to all the staff at Tophill for putting on a great nature reserve open day event

Stuck in my van on the edge of a cold Humber Estuary sheltering from the rain has big advantages sometime. Whilst counting Black-tailed Godwits I turned to look behind me and was shocked to see this Short-eared Owl only 20m or so away! When the rain stopped it spent lots of time preening and quite a lot of time doing its nails! A fabulous encounter to watch its behaviour without any disturbance

Today I joined my team of Mark James Pearson & Johnny Mac kicking off our North York Moors National Park wader surveys. We are very proud to be working again for the NPA. This was a glorious morning above Danby with lots of Eurasian Curlew, Northern Lapwing & Common Snipe singing. Best job in the world and we appreciate it!
