There isn’t just one way to do an apprenticeship... 👀

Face-to-face. Online. In the workplace. Structured around the needs of the employer and apprentice.

Lauren and Jacob discuss just how flexible apprenticeship training can be and why the traditional idea of what an apprenticeship “looks like” is becoming increasingly outdated. 💻📚

Could an apprenticeship fit your workplace better than you thought?

🎉 We’re proud to announce that MBKB is an Official Supporter of the Department for Education’s National Apprenticeship & Skills Awards 2026!

The Awards shine a spotlight on the incredible apprentices, employers and organisations making a difference through apprenticeships and skills across the country, and we’re delighted to be supporting them this year.

At MBKB, we see first-hand the impact apprenticeships can have, from developing careers and building confidence to helping businesses grow their talent and invest in the skills they need for the future.

That’s why we’re incredibly proud to stand behind a national celebration that recognises the people and organisations driving apprenticeships and skills forward.

We can’t wait to celebrate the achievements, stories and successes of this year’s finalists and winners. 💙🏆

Join Richard Bayly to explore how the Level 4 AI & Automation Practitioner Apprenticeship can help organisations turn AI and automation into practical workplace improvements.

During the session, we’ll look at:

🔧 The tools apprentices need and how many organisations may already have access to them

🔐 How responsible AI, human oversight and existing governance can help reduce risk

📈 How apprentices apply their learning through real workplace projects and measure the impact

👥 Who the programme is best suited to and what learners need in place to succeed

💬 Plus, there’ll be time for live Q&A, so bring along the process or task that takes up more time than it should.

⏰ Does off the job training mean an apprentice has to disappear from work for one day every week?

Not necessarily! 👀
❌ MYTH: Off the job training means spending a day away from work every week.
✅ FACT: Off the job training can be delivered in different ways and doesn’t necessarily mean leaving the workplace.

Depending on the apprenticeship and agreed training plan, it could include online learning, lectures, independent study, mentoring, assignments or projects. It can even take place at the employer’s premises. 💻📚

The important distinction is that off the job training develops new knowledge, skills and behaviours relevant to the apprenticeship and takes place during the apprentice’s normal working hours.

So “off the job” doesn’t necessarily mean “out of the workplace”!

🎉 It's Tuesday, which means it's time for another edition of this week's Tuesday's Tips and Tricks! 💡

Today's tip: Limit Multitasking! 🧩

It might feel productive, but juggling too many tasks at once often reduces your overall efficiency and increases the chance of mistakes. Instead, focus on one thing at a time and give it your full attention.

Why it helps:

Boosts the quality of your work 🎯
Helps reduce stress and overwhelm 💭
Allows better time tracking and task completion ⏱️
One focused task beats five half-finished ones.

What if you’re looking at apprenticeships completely wrong? 👀

A comment from David on one of our recent podcast clips got us talking...
“Most companies see apprenticeships as hire programmes when they’re actually upskilling tools.”

And he makes a really good point. 💡

Apprenticeships can be used for so much more than bringing new people into a business.

Upskilling. Retention. Leadership development. Retraining. Future-proofing your workforce. 📈

It might be time to stop thinking of apprenticeships as just a recruitment tool.
