After a great deal of hard work from the Barbour Memorial Hall Committee, we are proud to have played a key role in delivering this important project, helping to preserve the building for future generations.

The existing structure has been fully re-roofed and upgraded with an insulated external render system, improving both its durability and energy efficiency.

McGowan Miller were delighted to provide Quantity Surveying, Contract Administration, and Principal Designer services throughout the project.

McGowan Miller are acting as Quantity Surveyor, Contract Administrator and Principal Designer for the community run Barbour Memorial Hall project in Glencaple near Dumfries.

After a competitive tender process, the contract was awarded to William Waugh & Sons (Builders) Ltd, and involves an insulated render system, a new insulated roof sheeting system and new disabled access ramps.

The NTS engaged our services to provide an insurance reinstatement cost for this historic raquet ball court in fife last summer.

DID YOU KNOW: The oldest tennis court in the world is in Falkland Palace in Fife.

It was a summer retreat for the likes of Mary, Queen of Scots, who adored the Royal Hunting Lodge before it fell out of use as a royal residence following the Union of the Crowns in 1603. It was James V who commissioned the tennis court in 1539 and it is thought to be the oldest in the world still in existence.

A Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

It's been an extremely busy year at McGowan Miller with many interesting projects now complete.

Internally we have had a Director retire and one of our trainees graduated from University to sustain the future of Surveying within the firm. 2024 has been a successful year for the organisation and we look forward to the challenges that lie ahead in 2025.

McGowan Miller were recently involved in works completed in Nunholm, Dumfries. Our Building Surveying team were appointed to procure, and project manage the construction works to rebuild and upgrade this flood damaged property.
