the pictures show a cubic metre(tonne bag)of mostly birch branches cut with electric chainsaw into smallish pieces(8-10 inch) and some softwood drying on my long wall-the remnants of huge willow tree the trunk of which i am slowly removing-although not as powerful electric saws have advantages-chain lasts longer and needs less sharpening/no messing about with petrol/oil mixing/less mechanical problems/safer/usually lighter

tricks for drying firewood-split as soon as you get it along the length-bark off-scrape area under bark with knife-stack criss cross in single row on garden wall/pallet off ground-cover with roof tiles/corrugated tin/heavy duty polythene on top-uncover on dry days-do not leave in big unorganised piles exposed to weather-do not put damp wood in closed containers with no airflow-be patient time is your friend

interesting trip to laurieston and 2 flooded roads.managed to push a diesel car out of flooded road up a hill with another driver.hopefully his car is ok.diesel cars dont like being flooded.note if you see a puddle over 2 foot deep do the 3 point turn
