I wasn't expecting this pattern... but I keep seeing it.

The businesses that struggle the most aren't always the ones with the smallest budgets, or the least experience, or the toughest industry.

More often than not...

They're led by people who are carrying everything themselves: every decision, every problem, every responsibility.

At first, it feels like dedication, but eventually, it becomes the very thing holding the business back.

Building a successful business isn't about becoming more indispensable, but about creating a business that grows because you've built strong people, clear systems, and a shared vision.

I have some really exciting news to share…

I’ve been named one of White Page International’s 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴. 🍾🥂

I’m genuinely honoured.

When I look back at where this journey started, I never could have imagined some of the places it would take me.

From the Royal Navy, to running businesses, investing, speaking internationally, and now coaching and supporting hundreds of business owners around the world.

There have been plenty of challenges along the way. Plenty of moments where I’ve had to back myself, make difficult decisions and keep going when things didn’t feel easy.

That’s probably why recognition like this means so much.

For me, coaching has never just been about helping someone make more money.

It’s about helping business owners get clear on what they really want, build something that works, become stronger leaders and create success without losing themselves in the process.

People rarely leave a company overnight, most of the time, they leave quietly... long before they hand in their resignation!

👉 They stop sharing ideas.

👉 They become less engaged.

👉 They lose the spark they once had.

As leaders, our job isn't just to ask why people are leaving.

It's to ask what we can do to help them stay, grow, and thrive.

Sometimes, one genuine conversation can make all the difference.

Sometimes investing in somebody’s development creates a return you could never have planned.

We supported Paul, who is my wonderful brother, in developing his knowledge of AI through additional learning, masterminds and specialist networks.

There wasn’t a detailed brief saying:

“Go away and build this exact system.”

The intention was simply to give him the opportunity to explore what was possible.

What came back was far bigger.

Paul has programmed an automated system connecting multiple workspaces and completing processes for himself and the wider team in a fraction of the time they previously required.

It’s still being tested, but the potential is significant.

And there’s a bigger lesson in that.

Developing people isn’t separate from business performance.

Sometimes you invest in someone before you know exactly what the ROI will be.

In a world where AI can write the perfect résumé, polish cover letters, and prepare interview answers, one thing hasn't changed...

People still hire people.

A CV can tell you what someone has done, it can't tell you who they are.

The qualities that build exceptional teams—curiosity, resilience, integrity, emotional intelligence, and the willingness to learn—can't be generated by AI.

That's why I believe we need to look beyond qualifications and start paying more attention to potential.

The version of you that built the business may not be the version of you that can scale it.

That can be difficult to accept. In the early days, success often comes from being the person who:

👉 Knows everything.
👉 Fixes everything.
👉 Makes every decision.
👉 Works harder than everyone else.
👉 Holds everything together.

And for a while, that works.

But eventually, the behaviour that created your success can become the ceiling on your next stage of growth.

I believe that a growing business doesn’t need you to have every answer, but it needs you to create people who can find the answers without you.

The question changes from:

“W𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗜 𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲?”

to:

“W𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗜 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲?

Here is one of the biggest shift I've seen in successful business owners.

It's how they think.

At some point, they stop asking: "How do I work harder?"

And they start asking: "How do I build a business that doesn't rely on me for everything?"
