June has traditionally marked the point where the lobster season really starts to build although in recent years many fishermen are seeing earlier catches and changing seasonal patterns.

Understanding the scale of your shellfish holding system is essential when you’re managing supply, planning ahead, or waiting for prices to rise. This latest Crab Pod we’ve built is a bespoke model at four metres long by two metres wide, with three metres by two metres dedicated to shellfish and the final metre allocated to the filtration system.

For comparison, our standard Crab Pods are usually five metres long, but every system is built to suit the individual business. Capacity matters when you’re holding stock for consistency, quality and commercial advantage. Around Christmas, prices can double or even quadruple, so reliable storage gives fishermen and fish merchants the breathing space to wait for the right moment.

Funding is now available through the Fisheries and Seafood Scheme backed by £304 million from Defra.

This is open to a wide range of businesses and organisations across England including first time applicants. If you are working in fishing, aquaculture, seafood processing or marine conservation you may be eligible.

Our Lobster Pod, Crab Pod, Oyster Pod and purification systems all qualify for funding and we can also help manage your application.
