Just back from a wee meeting in coalisland re the canal path . I can’t understand why the council push trough a 600k job that a lot of the people don’t want and refuse to take any responsibility for the work the public want done . I personally am on the fence with the tarmac pad . But I’m not on the fence when it comes to the river. It’s a crying shame that the work that really needs done has to be done trough fundraising events and the support of local community groups. Abc council and mid ulster say they to date have no intention of getting involved in anything to do with the dredging of the blackwater . They say it’s up to dfi. Dfi say thay are not responsible for navigation and their only responsibility is drainage. So while we are fighting with the system trying to get this wee job over the line I would ask or beg at this stage could our councillors and mlas get on to the minister and tell him to get out here and take a look at what’s happening. This small job that would cost very little and would benefit the area massively with little to no environmental impact is doable and could be done within a few days if they got the finger out . Share this if you can with anyone in dfi daera councils and Andrew muir if possible. We really need to get this sorted . Because if it is left to the general public like the clearing of recent blockages on the river it’s Going to make the taxpayers question why we pay taxes when we have to dip into our own pockets to have these wee jobs done .
