What a wonderful morning of creativity, colour and community! 🌸💐 Under the expert direction of Pauline, our talented group created these stunning wreaths and floral tributes using a beautiful mix of roses, freesias, dianthus, gypsophila and fresh greenery. Each arrangement was unique and handcrafted with such care and imagination.

From vibrant yellows and deep reds to soft whites and delicate pinks, the finished pieces were absolutely breathtaking 🌼🌹✨

A huge thank you to Pauline and to everyone who came along and made the session so enjoyable. We are so proud of the beautiful creations produced this morning!

Glenshane Community Development Ltd was delighted to welcome two student cohorts from the Rural Community Network's University of Galway Diploma in Community Development to Glenshane House recently.

The visit provided an opportunity to share the story of Glenshane Community Development as a long-established rural community anchor organisation and to reflect on over 30 years of community-led economic development, enterprise support, regeneration and cross-community engagement in the Greater Dungiven area.

Students heard about the organisation’s journey, the challenges and opportunities facing rural communities and the importance of community anchor organisations in supporting social inclusion, local leadership and sustainable rural development. Discussion also focussed on growing the economy through partnership working, community capacity building and the evolving role of the voluntary and community sector.

As part of the programme, the group also visited Gaelcholáiste Dhoire, where they learned about the challenges in building a new school from scratch, the development of Irish-medium education and the important role that culture, language and identity can play in strengthening communities, growing the economy and creating opportunities for young people.

The visit created valuable opportunities for shared learning, discussion and reflection and Glenshane Community Development was pleased to contribute to the students’ understanding of practical community development in action.

We would like to thank Yvonne, Michael, Kelly & Antoin from the Rural Community Network, their students on the University of Galway Community Diploma course for their engagement and interest and we wish the students every success in their future community development work. We also wish to give a special mention of thanks to Diarmaid who is always so welcoming, telling the story of Gaelcholaiste Dhoire.
